ABOUT THIS ROLE:This is a mid-level, non-supervisory role in our Risk Management and Patient Safety Department.
In this role you will serve as an expert risk consultant to over 250 healthcare entities insured by BETA Risk Management Authority and HealthPro RRG.
You will review, design and support the policy or organizational programs based on current legislation, national, statewide and local trends and make recommendations at the senior management level to enhance safety and mitigate risk at member organizations.
Also, you will be integral in the education components of risk management programs and services to include leading and promoting patient safety and risk management initiatives.
This position reports to the Senior Director of Risk Management and Patient Safety.
IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:Maintain a network of informational sources and experts; performs risk assessments and onsite evaluations of member organizations to include patient care areas; reviews facility programs and processes to assess loss potentialCollect and analyze relevant data concerning patient injuries; aggregates data summaries, maintains statistical trending losses and other risk management dataPerform proactive analysis of patient safety and medical errors processesServe as consultant to BETA members on matters related to communication with patients and families in face of medical errorMaintain awareness of legislative and regulatory activities related to healthcare risk managementConduct research and responds to professional liability and general liability questions posed by BETA members and insuredsRecommend appropriate revisions to new or existing policies and procedures to mitigate risk; recommends ways to minimize risk through system changes; reviews and provides recommendations to BETA members and insureds regarding facility policies as appropriate to maintain adherence to current standards and requirements.Provide in-service training at all levels of organization to raise awareness to current and emerging risk exposureMay have on-call responsibilityMust have reliable and safe transportation to other BETA offices and business partners.This position requires 40% travel within the state of California, Oregon and WashingtonThis position may be responsible to supervise administrative staffQualificationsBachelor’s Degree required; MS preferredMinimum five (5) years’ experience in hospital or health system risk managementValid driver’s license, proper vehicle registration and California’s minimum automobile insurance coverage limitsCalifornia licensed RN, NP or PA requiredCPHRM or CPPS preferred (required within 12 months of hire)Certification in Just Culture achieved within 12 months of hireClinical nursing experience requiredProficient with MS Office to include use of PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook and MS Teams Company Website: www.Betahg.Com
