Looking for PRN staff to join our team!!!Position Summary:The primary purpose of the Respiratory Therapist is to develop coordinate and maintain the Respiratory Care Program.

Initiate and conduct respiratory procedures, maintain patient records and select, assemble, check and operate equipment.

Position report to Administrator.Essential Job Functions:This facility expects their employees to promote an atmosphere of teamwork with other employees and hospitality and comfort for its residents.

Therefore, the following list of duties is not all-inclusive:Administers respiratory therapy care to patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of cardiopulmonary system, under supervision of physician and by prescription: Reads prescription, measures arterial blood gases and reviews patient information to assess patient condition and determine requirements for treatment, such as type and duration of therapy, and medication and dosages.Determines most suitable method of administering inhalants, precautions to be observed and modifications which may be needed that will be compatible with physician’s orders.Helps patient accomplish treatment plan supports life by administering inhalants; operating mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, environmental control systems and aerosol generators.Administers respiratory therapy treatments by performing bronchopulmonary drainage, assisting with breathing exercise, monitoring physiological responses to therapy, such as vital signs, arterial blood gases and blood chemistry changes.Evaluates effects of respiratory therapy treatment plans by observing, noting and evaluating patient’s progress, recommending adjustments and modifications.Performs pulmonary function tests to be used by physician in diagnosis of care.Observes equipment function and adjusts equipment to obtain optimum results to therapy.

Consults with physician in event of adverse reactions.Inspects and tests respiratory therapy equipment to ensure equipment is functioning safely and efficiently.Orders repairs when needed.

Completes discharge planning by consulting with physicians, nurses, social workers and other health care workers; contributing to patientcare conferences.Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.Maintains patient confidence and protects company operations by keeping information confidential.Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.Other Duties:Attend in-service education programs in order to meet facility educational requirements.Be familiar with Standard Precautions, Exposure Control Plan, Fire Drill and Evacuation Procedures and know how to use the information.Maintain confidentiality of resident and facility records/information.Protect residents from neglect, mistreatment, and abuse.Protect the personal property of the residents of the facility.Rounds with Pulmonologist weeklyMaintains policies and procedures for Respiratory TherapistsScheduling for Respiratory TherapistsOrder SuppliesOthers as directed by the supervisor or administrator.Minimum Qualifications: Registered Respiratory Therapist or CRT with a minimum of five years critical care experience with current license in state facility operates in and a BLS “C” provider certified program.Prior supervisory experience.Knowledge of long term care.Current CPR certification.Organized and detailed in work performance.Good communication skills with excellent self-discipline and patience.Genuine caring for and interest in elderly and disabled people in a nursing facility.Comply with the Residents’ Rights and Facility Policies and Procedures.Perform work tasks within the physical demand requirements as outlined below.Perform Essential Duties as outlined above.Physical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
