Ensures compliance of coding rules and regulations according to regulatory agencies (CMS, OIG).
Works as a team to meet department goals and AR goals.
Abstracts prescribed data elements from the medical records.Qualifications:Degrees: High School,Cert,GED,Trn,Exper Licenses & Certifications: AHIMA Registered Health Information Technician AHIMA Certified Coding Specialist AHIMA Registered Health Information Administrator Additional Qualifications: Completion of a college level coding program specific in ICD10 CM/PCS, CPT coding, anatomy and physiology and medical terminology.
Current AHIMA Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification or AHIMA RHIA or RHIT certification required.
Demonstrated understanding of ICD-10 CM/PCS, and CPT coding guidelines required.
Experience with DRG validation and ASC/APC assignment required.
Experience coding all hospital patient types including inpatient, observation, ambulatory surgery, emergency, outpatient diagnostics and recurring accounts preferred.
Experience with CAC, 3M HDM and Cerner EMR systems preferred.
Prior experience working remotely from home preferred.
For remote work, the ability to independently meet coder quality and productivity standards, access a high speed internet connection, provide a secure work environment, and manage flexible hours is required.
