Position Summary:Work within the Medical Observation Treatment Unit/ Clinic providing psychiatric and medical screenings, evaluations for detoxification medications and supportive therapy.
Provide wellness screenings, medication management, and supportive therapies in a crisis stabilization unit.
This position may be filled with an FNP.Function in a specialized area of advance practice in the role of practitioner, mentor, consultant, educator, researcher and manager.
Establish goals and priorities in accordance with patient and staff needs and organizational objectives.
Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures.
Patient care assignment may include neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups.Accountability:PATIENT CARE
– Assess, diagnose and develop treatment plans; implement treatment, follow-up and evaluate patient within the scope of practice protocols as outlined by state statutePATIENT CARE
– Perform patient history and physical exams as needed for procedures or admissions; document findings noting pertinent normal and abnormal findingsPATIENT CARE
– Perform invasive and non-invasive diagnostic and therapeutic proceduresPATIENT CARE
– Evaluate and revise intervention care/treatment plan with patient and family as necessary to achieve improved healthDOCUMENTATION
– Provide accurate documentation of patient care, document orders, directives, procedures and patient responses in the medical record and communicate them to other members of the health care team; maintain accurate, legible and confidential recordsPATIENT CARE
– Provide education for patients and/or families about preventative care, medical issues and use of the prescribed medical treatmentPATIENT CARE

– Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don’t understand or may “not seem right”Education Requirements:Advanced Practice Nursing accredited program graduateExperience Requirements:No minimum experience requiredLicensure/Certification Requirements:Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Licensed by the New Mexico Board of NursingPrescriptive Authority from the State of New MexicoFederal DEA CertificationPediatric Nursing Certification as applicableACLS or PALS (as applicable) within 30 days of hireCPR Certification for Healthcare/BLS Providers or for Professional Rescuers or must obtain within 30 calendar days of date of positionExperience Requirements
– Preferred:Specialization in applicable area2 to 5 years experience as a practitionerBilingual English/SpanishBilingual English/Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or NavajoPhysical Demands Requirements:Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
