VP, Business Development – Government Services

This is a Full-time position in Huntsville, AL posted December 24, 2021.

LOCATION

The desire is for the VP, Business Development, Government Services to reside in Wood Dale IL.

SUMMARY 

The Vice President of Government Services Business Development is responsible for leading the Government Services BD staff, conducting market analysis and devising business strategies and plans to support DoD, US/foreign governments, and OEMs resulting in securing contracts for AAR products and services.

Works closely with defense contractors, prime contractors, and OEMs in developing executable support and sustainment strategies resulting in lower life cycle costs for the customer, and reasonable profit for AAR.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Leads the Proposal Management, Capture Management, Strategic Analytics, and Pricing staffs.

    Interacts and collaborates across AAR’s functional staffs and other AAR business units to generate cost effective winning proposals

  • Responsible for the overall management of the BD effort in identifying opportunities for sales growth and profit enhancement in the Government and Defense sector 
  • Plans and recommends business and marketing strategies to achieve maximum penetration consistent with Company financial objectives.
  • Leads and manages BD business operations (e,g, Capture Planning Process, Bid and Proposal Process, policy development and enforcement, budget execution, HR, legal, contracting requirements, etc) 
  • Prepares customer and strategic presentations including the annual and strategic marketing plan
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization.
  • Ensures all activity within BD is conducted in a compliant and ethical manner consistent with Government laws and the high standards of AAR.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. 
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

  • 15 years of related professional experience in Defense or the Defense Industry with a focus on Product Support and integration, CLS, and/or supply chain management is required.
  • Knowledge of USG and FMS program/contracting processes and acquisition/sustainment strategies.
  • Must have ability to obtain up to Top Secret level clearance.
  • Master’s degree (M.A.) or equivalent; or twelve years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
