The Government & Civic Relations team advances the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco”s strategic priority to make an impact on public policy by developing relationships with federal, state, local, and tribal government officials; educating policymakers about our mission and work; and sharing our research and policy proposals.
This position partners closely with colleagues across the Bank, including Public Affairs, Community Development, Regional Executives, Economic Research, and the President”s office.
Essential Responsibilities: Develop and implement near and long-term goals, strategies, and tactics for engagement with federal, state, and local public officials, key staffers and leading influencers Proactively monitor the external environment and act as an internal advisor and external champion for the Bank, briefing key leaders on matters related to emerging issues and proposed legislation that could impact the FRBSF”s ability to carry out its public service mission Identify, monitor, and engage with government leaders and key staffers on issues of shared importance Lead, manage and develop a small staff of two In collaboration with business partners, create coordinated strategic plans to effectively build, manage, and maintain the Bank”s reputation among elected officials and relevant external parties Create innovative, channel-appropriate communications to influence and inform partners” perspective and advance the mission of the Bank Develop strategic messages on key partner areas of inquiry to mitigate issues and ensure coordinated response to emerging partner questions or concerns Serve as the Bank”s primary liaison to the Federal Reserve System”s Government Relations community, partnering with peers on shared goals and objectives Represent the Bank externally and support executives in their engagement with public officials; help leaders articulate the Bank”s perspective on key issues so they can become effective advocates Promote and maintain effective relationships with business, academic and other connected influencers Support internal partners and Public Engagement colleagues in their communications and outreach activities Define benchmarks and standards to measure the impact of partner engagement initiatives and provide reports and analytics on external outreach, issues management tracking and public perception Requirements: Bachelor”s degree in political science, government, public policy, or a related field, or equivalent experience is required, advanced degree desirable Typically requires fifteen or more years of relevant experience in government relations and issues management and typically requires twelve or more years of formal people management Expert ability in developing and managing stakeholder relationships Exceptional written and verbal communications skills Strong understanding of and experience with external audiences including various layers of local, state and Federal government and 3rd party partners Strong knowledge of Governmental Affairs Management, Government Affairs Development Issues and Practices and Gov”t Affairs Regulatory Environment Willing and able to travel up to 15% after the health emergency Please apply before 5 PM Pacific time April 27th, 2021 when posting closes
