The City of Indianola is currently welcoming applications for the position of Street Maintenance Worker in the Public Works
– Streets department.
The City of Indianola (pop.
14,278) is a growing community with a historic downtown, located approximately 15 minutes south of Des Moines.

Indianola, which is home to Simpson College, the world-renowned Des Moines Metro Opera and the National Balloon Museum and U.S.
Ballooning Hall of Fame, is known for its excellent access to outdoor activities, a nice trail system, five major parks and two golf courses.
The community welcomes thousands of visitors annually who come to Indianola to enjoy major events such as the National Balloon Classic, Bike Night, the Warren County Fair and other events.
This position is responsible for several tasks, including, but not limited to:Repairs to concrete, asphalt and gravel road surfaces including patching, overlays, and crack sealingInstall, maintain, and replace street identification and traffic control signs and pavement markingsPaint traffic markings on pavement surfaces, public right-of-way, and facilitiesRepair street storm sewer intakes and inventoryMaintenance to equipment, building and grounds This is a seasonal position with approximately 40 hours per week Monday through Thursday, 7am
– 4:30pm and Friday, 7am
– 11am May through August.
Work hours may vary Monday through Friday and require work during off-peak hours.
The successful candidate will have:High school diploma or GEDBasic construction knowledge preferredAbility to lift 75 pounds See attached job description for full list of job duties and requirements.The hourly wage for this position starts at $11.50/hour.
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a post-offer drug screening, background check, physical and physical capacity test.
