CLASSIFICATION: Non- Exempt/Full Time REPORTS TO: PW Supervisor

GENERAL SUMMARY: This is a non-exempt position responsible for maintaining roads, parks, storm water, sanitary sewer, yard waste program, and repair of municipal building and facilities. Responsible for the operation of a variety of construction and maintenance equipment and for performing manual labor activities as needed and/or required by the Public Works Department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Maintains parks, roads, storm water, sanitary sewer and Borough properties and facilities.
• Performs minor building maintenance and oversees/ performs landscaping and upkeep of parks and Borough ground and downtown area.
• Performs emergency operations planning to include winter and flood preparedness
• Operates and repairs PW equipment to include backhoe, front end loader, leaf picker, sewer truck, mower, roller, tractor, and trucks.
• Assist with performing routine pump station inspection.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• One (1) year public works experience or equivalent
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License.
• Valid Flagger and Confined Space Entry Certifications or able to obtain in 6 months.

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:

• Ability to perform general maintenance tasks in parks, roads, storm water and sanitary sewer.
• Knowledge and ability to operate Borough-owned vehicles and equipment, such as dump trucks, backhoe, snowplows, salt spreaders, power tools, chain saws, air compressor, etc.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and practices.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends to respond to emergency situations and community events.
• Ability to ensure safe work environment.
• Ability to handle 50 pounds.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, associates, and professional peers.
• Ability to complete certification classes in practices required by the Borough Manager.
