Public Funding Grants Manager

Food & Friends provides medically-tailored meals, nutrition counseling, and friendship to people living with HIV/AIDS, cancer, and other life-challenging illnesses.

Our team of sixty employees and thousands of volunteers delivers meals and hope to people living in the District of Columbia and several counties across Maryland and Virginia.

There is no charge or income qualification for our services, which are rendered solely on the basis of medical need. We seek a Public Funding Grants Manager to oversee local, state, and federal government funding streams including prospect research, proposal writing, submission, and reporting.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Manager will: Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement annual strategy to achieve and hopefully exceed public funding budget goals;Write and submit proposals to receive government funding, and shepherd those proposals through the appropriations process;Prepare and submit regular reports according to funder deadlines;Create and manage a multi-year grants plan and calendar with special attention to deadlines;Cultivate and steward relations with public funders’ grants teams and program officers;Collaborate with programmatic staff to identify appropriate fit between funder guidelines and program objectives; andConduct prospect research to identify new public funding opportunities. This position requires work in a traditional office environment; telework not permitted.

The successful candidate will have a BA/BS, a driver’s license, and at least five years of experience with public funding, grant writing/management, or related work.

Additional qualifications include advanced knowledge of grant management techniques, superb writing skills, understanding of the appropriations process, strong attention to detail, dependable time management skills, ability to foster relations with internal and external constituencies; and an appreciation for diversity.

Must be able to manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment.
