Job Description:
The Disaster Medicine and Public Health Preparedness
– Principle Subject Matter Expert will serve as a senior subject matter expert for the FEMA CDP Training Delivery Services contract.
The Principle SME will provide guidance to the FEMA and Leidos staff on curriculum and training delivery of Disaster Medicine and Public Health Preparedness training and exercise requirements for the Nation’s First Responders and First Receivers.
The Principle SME will also represent the CDP-Leidos Training Delivery Services program with senior FEMA and CDP leadership, as well as, with Local, State, Tribal, Territorial and external Federal training partners of the Center for Domestic Preparedness, and national Medical and Public Health professional associations.
Primary Responsibilities
Act as a Disaster Medicine and Public Health Preparedness Liaison for the CDP-Leidos Training Delivery Services with professional medical associations and SLTT and Federal Agencies..
Provide SME guidance on the current readiness of the Nation’s Disaster Medicine & Public Health Preparedness.
Provide SME guidance on the current and new disaster medicine & public health curriculum content.
Provide SME guidance on disaster medicine & public health instructor/SME qualifications and selection.
Assist in the development of legislation for improving Disaster Medicine & Public Health Preparedness for SLTT jurisdictions.Â
Establish and strengthen relationships with national jurisdiction and federal agencies to further the training mission at CDP.
Assist in development of strategies for disaster medicine and public health training and exercise.
Basic Qualifications
Board certification in medicine, public health, or other Health related profession
Experience in senior Health Sector leadership positions the national, state or professional association level.
BA degree and 12+ years of experience in Health Sector preparedness
Be an U.S Citizen
Significant experience in overseeing disaster medicine and public health preparedness training and education programs.
Preferred Qualifications
MD, DO, or PhD in Medicine, Public Health or other related Health Profession
Experience advising Elected Officials and Senior Government Leadership at the Agency Level on disaster medicine and public health preparedness program requirements
Experience working with HHS, ASPR and/or CDC
Experience working with the AMA and/or other National Medical Associations on Disaster Medicine and Public Health Preparedness curriculum and/or accreditation requirements.
