Sr Vehicle Architect – General

We have an exciting technical engineering position for a high-achieving, highly-motivated senior-level person to join our team.

The Sr Vehicle Architect role is tasked with developing the next generation of Polaris ORV’s, new concepts, and fostering innovative ideas.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures all requirements are clearly established for the vehicle at the start of the program prior to design execution
  • Owns the overall technical maturity of the System/Vehicle, Interfaces, and technical integration of sub-systems
  • Assures all sub-systems work together and conducts system-level tradeoffs (quality, function, weight, cost, assembly feasibility, etc.) to meet Voice of the Customer (VOC)
  • Direct communication with product manager to ensure accurate interpretation of L1 specifications and VOC
  • Develops and cascades design targets and space claims, and works with the industrial design (ID) and component engineers as the vehicle design progresses to ensure targets are met.

  • Performs and/or coordinates packaging trade studies to meet or define vehicle integration requirements
  • Assists and leads the engineering team in root cause analysis and problem-solving
  • Approves all systems designs and ensures they meet requirements
  • Works with Chief Engineer to interpret and ensure adherence to internal and external requirements
  • Leads technical resolution of cross-functional issues in the early phase to ensure the correct balance of customer requirements and business needs.

  • Analysis of customer satisfaction and quality data for internal and competitive products.

    Takes a proactive, leadership role by acting as a customer advocate and technical ‘referee’ for cross-functional attribute, design, and vehicle packaging efforts.

  • Performs and/or reviews benchmarking of competitive vehicles
  • Interacts effectively across the organization: program management, customers, component engineering, design, manufacturing, testing, and senior management.

Skills, Knowledge & Education:

  • Bachelor’s in Engineering.

    Master’s degree highly desired.

  • Must possess a deep level of technical knowledge pertaining to new vehicle design and development
  • Passion for engineering and product excellence
  • Experience with mechanical design for complex systems preferred
  • Knowledge of design risk management tools (DFMEA, HARA, etc)
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead, motivate, and influence a technical team
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills
  • Knowledge of all phases of Product Development
  • Overall vehicle, attribute, and functional hardware knowledge
  • Testing and Validation Experience
  • Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Manufacturing and assembly plant experience
