Job Summary: The Low Voltage Power Products (LVPP) Department supports key Raytheon Missiles and Defense (RMD) products, by providing mission-critical designs relating to power conversion, motor controls, flight termination systems, telemetry, and other analog domains.We are looking for senior level engineers who have control electronics knowledge to help design robust control systems for important national defense products.
Opportunities are circuit and control electronics design of miniaturized servo applications, including drive control systems for missile fins/canards, vectoring rocket motor nozzles, positioning seeker head gimbals, and actuating gaseous valves for divert and attitude control systems.
Emphasis is on miniaturized electronics in the 100W to 20kW motor drive range.
Raytheon Technologies uses both brushed and brushless motors and employs the various PWM switching methods to minimize size and achieve maximum torque/speed performance.
Responsibilities to Anticipate:* Design, analyze, simulate, test, and document control electronics circuitry potentially utilizing any standard control electronics topologies with the main emphasis on board mounted control end use applications.* Architect at the control system level.* See circuit card, stack, and control system development through its design phases, from requirements definition through initial integration testing.* Drive to meet schedule concerns.
Define schedules for circuit, circuit card, stack, and control system level tasking.* Guide ECAD drafters and junior engineers through layout and routing activities.
Define layer stackup definitions.
Act as an expert regarding creepage and clearance concerns.* Lead large teams to success with schedule, budget, and technical execution.* Engage in personal technical growth and facilitate technical growth in peers and junior engineers.
Drive the capture of opportunities are needed to mature the organization on the technical front.* Clearly present work product of your team to functional, program, and corporate leadership.
Manage related risk discussions.
Guide junior engineers on technical presentation skills.
Qualifications You Must Have:* A Bachelor’s (or higher) in Electrical Engineering is preferred.
Related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) Bachelors’ (or higher) may also be considered.* Ten years of related experience in 6 or more of the following:* Design, analysis, test, and simulation experience with analog or digital controls, and driving one or more of the following motor types: Brushed, BLDC or PMSM.* Design, analysis, and simulation experience with servo control systems, drive electronics, feedback signals and sensing.
Conceptual familiarity and experience must include control loops and stability of linear control systems.* Experience with professional sensor (magnetic encoder, resolver, Hall Effect) use design, analysis, test, and simulation considerations in control electronics circuits.* Experience with sensors and their selection.
The ability to roadmap sensor technologies as they pertain to the direction of future business.* Experience with professional EMI Filter design, analysis, test, and simulation considerations in control electronics circuits.
The ability to roadmap EMI Filter design in control electronics circuits as it pertains to the direction of future business.* Experience with analog electronics design, including all of the following: FET/BJT logic level, op-amp, high/low/band pass filters, clock/data termination, and comparator circuits, along with an understanding of how these circuits are utilized in control electronics.
The ability to roadmap analog electronics design in control electronics circuits as it pertains to the direction of future business.* Experience conducting trade studies relating to control electronics architecture at the control system level.* Experience guiding drafters through the ECAD process, including the layout and routing concerns specific to control electronics.
The ability to roadmap PCB design relating to control electronics circuits as it pertains to the direction of future business.* Experience with designing at the control system level to meet concerns of adjacent disciplines, such as thermal, structural, mechanical, reliability, and quality.* Experience utilizing and creating electrical design specifications.* Experience with requirements definition early in the design cycle.* Experience leading larger teams, and experience working with other team leads toward a larger goal.
Direct experience managing customer relationships.* Experience communicating and documenting technical topics at the small and large team level, and experience presenting to upper levels of management and customers.
* The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance.

Knowledge of dSPACE is not required but desirable.* Mentor Graphics DxDesigner, and/or Hyperlynx.* Acting as a liaison between program and functional management in a cross-matrixed organization.* Military specifications.* Design considerations for voltages > 100V.* Program management tools such as Earned Value.* Proposal development.
