SQL Database Architect

ITAC is assisting a local Birmingham client in their search for a SQL D atabase Architect!

The ideal candidate will provide maintenance, support, and architectural guidance for the database environment while maintaining a deep understanding of the technology landscape in order to meet business needs.

What you’ll be doing (duties of this position):
Monitor databases both from a performance and capacity management perspective and perform maintenance activities such as backup/recovery and rebuilding/reorganizing indexes.
Ensure that all database releases are assessed and measured from a functionality and performance perspective.
Provide technical expertise on all database design (Logical and Physical modeling) and development projects.
Handle performance tuning of the database schema, stored procedures, etc.
Set-up and manage fail-over clusters (in partnership with Infrastructure).
Automate database management activities.
Perform system monitoring, metric reporting, and diagnostics.

What you’ll need to be considered (requirements):
4+ years experience with Microsoft SQL Server in a production environment is required.
Experience with AWS migration is a plus.
Ability to manage all DB maintenance plan activities including backups, indexing, integrity, and consistency checks, backup/recovery, capacity monitoring/management, etc.
Experience managing large numbers of databases in a real-time production environment.
Understanding of Virtual Server environments.
Experience resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking/deadlocking issues, connectivity issues, and data replication issues.
Deep, specialized domain expertise in deployed systems (i.e., distributed systems algorithms, storage allocation algorithms, and deep database skills).
