Project Description

The Expert Software Architect will lead computer application development, maintenance and enhancement to support traveler’s health and COVID-19 pandemic response.

This position will support regular transmission of traveler’s health data to other jurisdictional entities as well as transport of COVID-19 lab reporting data into the cloud.

This position will also support additional data transmissions as requested by the Division of Epidemiology for the purpose of sharing traveler’s health information.

Further, this position will support the Department of Health cloud architecture and technologies by developing infrastructure scalability designs to aid in the dissemination of traveler’s health data to partners and ensuring systems have high availability and maintain capacity for user access to meet pandemic needs.

This position will build, increase, and maintain our cloud footprint.

Position Description

The Expert Software Architect will perform duties in both the Amazon Webservices Cloud and the Google Cloud Platform and maintain a full comprehension of the cloud storage and database. The Expert Software Architect will support and maintain the bridge between hybrid cloud infrastructures, including bridging the gap to support COVID-19 traveler’s health data in applications on premise as well as in the cloud.The Expert Software Architect will plan and implement migration of systems and data to and from on premise in a hybrid cloud environment.The Expert Software Architect will implement, maintainand monitor data transmission solutions for transporting traveler’s health data among jurisdictions.The Expert Software Architect will perform other duties as required to support grant deliverables.

Mandatory Skills

1.84 months of experience with managing servers and infrastructure in a production cloud environment (GCP, AWS, etc.)
2.84 months experience in cloud data – (i.e., cloud storage, cloud SQL, Cloud Data Fusion, BigQuery) 
3.84 months experience in hybrid cloud infrastructure (security, data migration, autoscaling) 
4.84 months of experience with infrastructure as code using Cloud Formation and Terraform. 
5.60 months of experience in cloud security (keys, encryption at rest and in-transit, VPC service controls, Security Command Center etc.)
