Come build your career in one of the best companies in the world The Communications Systems Architect / Manager is part of the Project Execution Systems Engineering group reporting directly to the Head of System Engineering department.
This role is responsible for driving the requirements, design, implementation and integration of various network infrastructure for various Siemens Mobility projects as well as managing and mentoring communications staff to build and maintain the best communications team in the US.
The ideal candidate is someone with a complete understanding of the lifecycle of communications project, from the initial bid phase, through detailed level design and implementation, followed by field validation and customer acceptance.
This candidate will demonstrate a complete understanding of modern networking theory and practices utilizing modern design tools to accomplish effective project execution.
Due to the requirements of the project, candidates must be willing to work in, and possibly relocate to, Las Vegas, NV.
In addition to communication knowledge, a candidate with in-depth knowledge of railroad agency networking is a major plus.
Managerial Requirements: Proven technology leader with 8 years of hands on leadership experience.
Proven track record to manage diverse staff of experts through entire life cycle of projects Ability to grow team both professionally and personally to ensure retention and growth in key strategic areas of communications Proven track record of deploying outstanding quality products/projects taking into account cost/schedule/quality History of managing/leading multi-million dollar projects to completion Excellent written/communication skills upstream/downstream Technical Requirements: Master’s degree in an engineering discipline preferred with 10 years’ post-graduation industry experience preferred.
A combination of education and experience also considered.
10 years of hands on experience in Ethernet LAN / WAN routing & switching architecturesand configurations based on industry leading vendor products.
Detailed understanding on data center and backbone infrastructure architectures including IP sub-netting experience is essential Excellent knowledge and use of Microsoft Visio, Word, and Excel for detailing and illustration purposes.
Excellent knowledge of writing detailed specifications and procedures taking the guidance from Systems designers, external vendor authorities and customer specifications.
Proven experience in Proof-of-Concept and Factory Acceptance level test planning, lab setup and execution to demonstrate conceptual designs.
Expert knowledge in using Ethernet Testers: JDSU or equivalent, packet analyzers and gathers for field integration troubleshooting and validation.
Practical experience in Metro and ISP mature infrastructure as DWDM, SDN and legacy infrastructure as Sonet, ATM will be beneficial.
Implementation skills in Firewall and security architectures from Cisco, Palo Alto, including Cyber security guidelines applicable for critical applications.
Industry active certifications CCNP and CCDA or higher is helpful, though practical knowledge on standardized protocols, and use of Alcatel Lucent, Nokia, MPLS and MEF standards along with good knowledge on multi-vendor NMS applications will be considered.
Willingness to work in field: Rail data center and wayside environments for time restricted deliverables, Lab build out for concept testing, extended work hours (if required) with quality and integrity in all deliverables is expected.
US Citizenship required Position Responsibilities: Provide technical network development for their allocated tasks Production of network architectural diagrams and design documents Production of fiber optic layout and cable schedules, diversity plans Participate and build trust with the customer being responsible for the scope of the deliverables Assist with presenting network design architecture to the project and the customer Be well rounded and ready to assist in integration challenges during and after hours.
Development of associated test specifications including POC, FAT and integration test plans.
Provide constant support and participate in field commissioning activities when required.
