Join us and put your passion, determination, and skill to work building the future! #TheFutureIsBuiltHere #ChangeTheWorldBR&T is seeking a Senior Structural Analyst and Research Engineer (Level 4) to join our team in the greater Seattle area, Tukwila, Washington .We’re seeking a motivated engineer in the area of advanced structural analysis methods and tools.  The candidate will be part of a global multidisciplinary team with life cycle certification expertise working to help Boeing’s business units reduce certification cost and product development time for commercial, military, rotorcraft, space vehicles, unmanned air vehicles and advanced airframe prototypes. The candidate will help lead the deployment of innovative technologies and processes.Technology development scope will span fundamental research to technical support of hardware development programs.  The position involves working closely with both internal and external customers to identify technology development needs, lead and or play key roles in the development of technical proposals, and lead and or play key roles in the execution of emergent program support. The ideal candidate is a well-rounded engineer with expertise in advanced structural analysis tools and a self-starter with the ability to learn and adapt skills to the wide variety of tasks and assignments within BR&T.Candidates should have strong competencies in problem solving abilities, analytical skills, and technical skills in mechanics of materials including composites, structural design, structural dynamics, and experience with Microsoft Office tools and programming languages. Candidates must be well-rounded with good technical, teaming, and communication skills.**Note: this role requires 10% travel other surrounding Puget Sound sites.Position Responsibilities:Leading and performing analysis and sizing of structure using well-defined methods (e.g. static, fatigue and damage tolerance for composite and metallic primary structure) and advanced finite element tools (e.g. impact simulation using LS-DYNA and HyperMesh, ABAQUS) to resourcefully satisfy structural integrity requirementsLeading research and development activities for the transition of advanced analysis tools including for multi-disciplinary optimization, new material/concept architecture trades, verification and validation testing, fabrication support, and performance validationCollaborating, leading and motivating diverse teams using state-of-the-art engineering skills and practicesEffectively developing and communicating the strategic value of our technologies to internal and external customers and supporting the development of certification strategiesLeading development, integration and documentation of structural requirements to establish the system designWork under minimal supervisionThis position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work on site at one of the listed location options.This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry6+ years of experience in structural analysis engineering3+ years of experience as a lead engineerExperience with finite element modeling structural analysis methods and toolsPreferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):Advanced engineering degree (e.g. Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering)Aerospace experienceExperience with structural analysis method development and supporting testingExperience with composite structure design and analysisComputer programming experience in Python, Matlab, FORTRAN, C# and/or PerlExperience supporting and/or capturing contracted research and development workStrong interpersonal communication skills (verbal, written & presentation) with the ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary stakeholders and customersTypical Education/Experience:Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years’ related work experience, Master+12 years’ related work experience).
