The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Senior Software Architect located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.
This position will require extensive knowledge in the Requirements Management Process for Major acquisition programs. The position will be the lead requirements manager for Boeing Defense systems (U.S.) for the next major upgrade to the AEW&C program.
The individual must possess the ability to communicate customer needs and engineering requirements into a contractually sound technical baseline. Must possess a broad system performance and technical understanding of Airborne Command and Control Platform subsystems. Be able interface with both customers and engineers and management to ensure requirements are properly captured and documented and that complete requirement traceability is documented.
This position requires leadership to drive the development of properly worded and documented requirements for system level to subsystem level and ensure the quality of requirements which Boeing will contractually commit to, as well as the quality of requirements Boeing flows to suppliers. They must be able to lead development of requirement verification planning and documentation. The individual develops, maintains and identifies improvements for the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes.
Position Responsibilities:
- Performs stakeholder needs analysis, technical measure definition, and requirements analysis, allocation and definition
- Uses the structured requirements process to ensure requirements are clear, unambiguous verifiable and affordable
- Assists with various analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture
- Assists with analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success
- Working closely with other engineering disciplines in an integrated team environment to develop procurement specifications and statements of work for a variety of complex systems
- Performs cost vs. requirements trade studies, cost driver analysis, and analysis of supplier cost proposals using parametric cost modeling techniques
- Construct system architecture documents to include specification trees, functional Performance specifications, Product Breakdown structures, DODAF operational and system views
- Other engineering duties as assigned
- Resolves cross-functional technical issues
Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements:
This position requires the ability to obtain a Secret US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. Ability to obtain Secret US Security clearance (Post-Start).
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Ability to obtain Secret US Security clearance (Post-Start)
- 5 years of experienced in construction and management of a DOORs Requirements specification from the system specification down through the subsystem and configured item specifications will full traceability and associate verification methods
- 5 years of experience in systems engineering integrated product team for major program or platform upgrade
- 2 years of experience demonstrating forward and backward traceability of all requirements covered in a specification tree
- 2 years of experience establishing verification methods for all requirements in a system
- 1 year experience with decomposition of customer Functional Performance Specification or customer requirements documents such as a TRD
- Technical knowledge supporting peer to peer conversations with IPT members for requirements development of the employment of Airborne Command and Control Platform systems to include line of sight and beyond line of sight communications, Data links employment considerations and message sets (Link-16, MADL, Link-22), Passive and active Sensors (Radar, IFF, ESM, EO/IR, EW), satellite communications networks
- Experience constructing and achieving sign off of the following architecture artifacts: specification trees, functional Performance specifications, Product Breakdown structures, DODAF operational and system views
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Experience leading initial customer requirements decomposition and establishment of program requirements from system set through subsystem and configured items with associated verification methods in DOORS
- Experience applying Requirements Quality Measurement metrics and initiating corrective action to achieve desired score
- CAMEO or similar Model Based Engineering software and its application across all elements of systems engineering and artifact linkage
- Military data link architecture knowledge, data link mission planning knowledge, Data link technical operation knowledge, JICO Qualification or training
- Functional and system level test experience for Airborne Command and Control Platforms
- Military Operational Airborne Command and Control Experience in the last 10 years in a deployed theater
TYPICAL EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years’ related work experience, Master+12 years’ related work experience)
- In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
