Mary Greeley has a fulltime position open for a Senior Network Architect or Senior Network Engineer. This position is in Ames, Iowa and reports to the IT Manager # Infrastructure and Cloud Services. The ideal candidate for this role will have solid knowledge, experience and understanding of several enterprise networking technologies, including routing, and switching, wireless, and security solutions, and be experienced in monitoring and alerting in them. We have a combination of traditional physical, virtual, and cloud infrastructure and are committed to providing robust and reliable network solutions to meet the needs of our staff and patients. The Senior Network Architect is responsible for the design, implementation, and support of Mary Greeley Medical Center#s network infrastructure. They are charged with architecting high-performing, resilient, and highly available network solutions. They will serve as an informal technical leader within the network area of the Infrastructure and Cloud Services Team # Senior Network Engineer: Unit Specific Position Responsibilities The Senior Network Engineer will provide informal leadership and mentoring to colleagues, positively influencing and educating them on design, troubleshooting, lifecycle and support processes related to the network infrastructure and its place in the IT service value chain. Will use network analysis tools for the purpose of both troubleshooting existing network issues, but also for the purpose of performing post-mortem and root-cause analysis of network events. Responsible for monitoring the network performance to proactively identify potential network issues before they arise. Responsible for the design and implementation of network security solutions such as perimeter firewalls, VPN#s (both site to site and end-user), access controls, behavioral analytics, network segmentation, etc. Responsible for the configuration and installation of network hardware and software. Ensure that all machines and nodes on the network communicate with each other properly Responsible for installing and updating network security software and ensuring that all are kept up to date in accordance with security policies. Responsible for planning the ongoing maintenance of all network related components, as well as all lifecycle activities needed to keep the network functioning optimally and as designed. This will be done in a fashion that minimizes the downtime to areas that provide direct patient care. The Senior Network Engineer will collaborate with the Infrastructure Manager, the IT Architect, and their fellow team members to design and build the Hospital#s functional networks. In this, they will help to deliver a data center core network environment, a campus wired network, wireless network, WAN connectivity to a DR data center, as well as a handful of remote locations. Qualifications, Knowledge # Experience Required Qualifications (Including any licensure, certification, education): Bachelor#s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Networking, Telecommunications or similar related field OR a minimum or 8 years of demonstrated experience managing a complex enterprise network environment. De-escalation training prior to performing direct patient care or within 90 days of hire 5-7 years# experience in supporting an enterprise network environment that includes support of data center and multi-site network element. Expertise in network operating systems, preferably including Cisco operating and management systems, including ACI (Application Centric Infrastructure) Expert understanding of communication and routing protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, etc. Expert understanding of the OSI model and how to apply it to troubleshooting both connectivity and application level issues Knowledge and skills in the use of scripting, automation and orchestration in the implementation, configuration, and management of network infrastructure. Strong knowledge of IT Security principles, best practices, and procedures Strong knowledge in the use and application of network tools such as Solar Winds, Wire Shark, network mapping tools, etc. Strong critical thinking skills are required to ensure such things as good time management, problem-solving, systems thinking, business impact, patient safety, etc. are considered when weighing decisions and evaluating options Strong project management skills, as this position will be responsible for leading complex network projects Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated abilities to solve the most complex of service tickets.
