Senior Mechanical Engineer

We are looking for a talented and experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer with a strong and diverse background in mechanical design to join our DUV Mechanical Development (MDEV) team.

This position will be a key contributor in designing mechanical parts and assemblies for our DUV lasers.

This position may require access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R.

§ 730, et seq.).

Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work.

Business demands may require the Company to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.

Job Description Our San Diego-based light source division, Cymer, is renowned for developing both deep ultraviolet (DUV) lithography light sources and next generation extreme ultraviolet (EUV) light sources.

Mechanical design of sheet metal, machined, and molded parts Create solid models and detail drawings for parts in Creo Create sub-assemblies and full laser assemblies in Creo Calculate and Analyze mechanical tolerance stack ups Collaborate with vendors on the fabrication of mechanical parts Conduct problem solving on mechanical fit and performance issues Design production fixtures for assembly and alignment Collaborate with other engineering groups such as Optics, Chambers, Systems, and Controls on sub-system mechanical design Other responsibilities may be added as business conditions arise Education Requires a B.S in Mechanical Engineering or related relevant field of study.

Advanced degree (M.S.) is a plus.

Experience Requires a minimum of 7 years of relevant work related experience (or combination of relevant work related experience and educational experience beyond B.S.).

Experience designing mechanical parts (machined, sheet metal, molded) and mechanical assemblies Proficiency with CAD software packages (solid modeling and detailed drawings), Creo preferred Experience with documentation control systems, Agile and Windchill preferred Experience working with machine shops and other part fabricators Familiarity with cooling systems, gas and vacuum fittings, bearings and mechanisms Finite Element Modeling experience (structural, thermal, vibration, fluid dynamics) Knowledge of GD&T and mechanical tolerance analysis Experience designing opto-mechanical parts and assemblies is preferred Familiarity with industrial lasers and semiconductor capital equipment is a plus Personal skills Can observe and respond to people and situations and interact with others encountered in the course of work.
