Senior Manager, SaaS Solutions Architects – Opportunity for Working Remotely

The VMware Modern Application Platform Business Unit (MAPBU) is looking for a Senior Manager leading a team of SaaS Value Engineers (SVEs) to join us in building the Tanzu Mission Control user base and growing customer use case adoption.

This role will focus on managing a team of SVEs who manage high touch customers on TMC , while additionally working with product management, engineering, and SRE teams ensuring a strong customer experience on TMC .

SVE function is the ‘glue’ that facilitates translating customer needs into features, and helping grow a doption of features, and new use cases for TMC.

It resides in the business unit (MAPBU) and focuses on the technical aspects of customer growth (solutions, new use cases, etc ).

Your role:
You will need to be technically capable and credible in your own right for applications, cloud, and kubernetes , as well as effective in shaping the customer and solutions-focused skills of your team.

You will also be a leader who is a player/coach as the ramp on customers will require hands on support.

As a leader you love learning and introducing new technology , processes, and out-of-the box thinking in order to help drive and motivate the team in excelling with customers and the internal BU.

You must be able to manage and embrace change and ad apt your team and goals as needed.

As a leader you will need to be innovative and can look beyond the technology and consider the value how technology creates outcomes for VMware’s SaaS customers, and additionally help change how VMware’s technology is viewed.

You will help team members ramp-up on the SVE role, Kubernetes, Public Cloud, as well as developing and executing on plans to grow customer usage on TMC.

You will also need to be adept at interacting, communicating and partnering with other departments within VMware such as the product management team, engineering (MAPBU R&D), SRE org, marketing, and professional services teams, as well as representing your team to executive management.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and execute plans to grow customer use and adoption of new use cases, features, as well as developing a trusted advisor status with customers.

  • Hire, on-board, coach, and develop new S VE s .

  • Scale team to needs of the business (10+ SVEs)

  • Educate customers on the value proposition of TMC , build deep relationships with decision makers within customer accounts to enable them on VMware’s Tanzu Kubernetes Platform .

  • Capture and share best-practice knowledge amongst the SVEs and constantly improve on SVE process and scale.

  • Guide and motivate the development of whitepapers, data sheets, and other high-value customer facing guidance and best practices.

    Act as a conduit and liaison between customers, service engineering teams and support.

Requirements :

Master’s degree (U.S.

or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related technical/quantitative field and three (3) years of experience in job offered or related position .

In the alternative, employer will accept Bachelor’s degree (U.S.

or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology or a related technical/quantitative field and five (5) years of experience in job offered or related position.

Preferred skills:

  • 2+ years experience managing teams of 4+ solutions architects, CSMs, support staff, or any technical customer facing sales roles.

  • Experience in Kubernetes , Public cloud (AWS/GCP preferred), application development (2+ years)

  • Understanding how to educate, train, and grow teams with varied skill sets
