Senior Cloud Automation Architect

Reports to the Director, Cloud and Data Centers.

What you will do:

Lead the creation of a technology framework and providing technical leadership in support of Nutrien’s initiatives in multi-cloud automation, with a focus on the design of services that run on both on-premises as well as cloud platforms
Work closely with software developers and system/database engineers to understand requirements and participate in design discussions
Demonstrate knowledge of cloud architecture and implementation features (OS, multi-tenancy, virtualization, orchestration, elastic scalability)
Partner with DevOps and Platform engineers to fully automate deployment pipeline throughout the release and delivery lifecycle
Drive scope definition, requirements analysis, functional and technical design, application build, product configuration, unit testing, and production deployment
Establish and maintain automation tooling and standards
Coordinate automated tasks across different technology domains
Lead automation projects, POC’s and new initiatives
Create automation framework on a program level 
Collaborate with application managers to establish standards, practices and toolsets for creating repeatable patterns
Identify and recommend opportunities to enhance productivity and operational efficiency using automation, virtualization, and integration with CI/CD pipeline 
Demonstrate forward thinking around where the organization is going and how cloud technology can support these efforts
Advocate and define cloud architecture vision from a strategic perspective, including internal and external platforms, tools, and systems

What you will bring:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other closely related subject
8-10+ years of experience with a background in technical architecture, application development, middleware, database management or operations 
Required 3+ years of software/application development experience OR Solution Architecture and Operations
CICD – Terraform, Circle CI, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Jira, GitHub, Ansible, AWS Systems Manager, etc.

Experience with the monitoring and analytics of CloudHealth, Azure Monitor, Service NOW
Security – Azure AD, MS MFA, Prisma, Splunk
Scripting & Languages – Python, Bash, Java
Extensive hands-on experience and thorough understanding of AWS & Azure architecture, development, deployment, and test automation consuming cloud native services
Experience and thorough understanding of Agile/Scrum development, DevSecOps, CI/CD process and tools
Dedication to continuous improvement and optimization of Cloud offerings
Innovative and ability to think outside the box for creative problem solving
