The individual in this position is expected to evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria using sound judgment in design and modification of mobile construction equipment.

For more information, visit www.Progressrail.Com and follow us Progress_Rail on Twitter and YouTube.Education / Training:Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.Job Title:Mechanical EngineerCity:MontgomeryKey Job Elements:Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:Project management duties including directing the work of junior engineers and designers while also performing design engineering duties; Work to also include performing the design, analysis, and testing of mobile equipment structures, systems, and components; Performing FEA analysis on mobile equipment frames and assemblies; Reviewing customer specifications, railroad regulations, and government regulations to determine proper design parameters for custom designed product; Producing an error free engineering design package using sound engineering practices; Clearly communicating with engineering personnel, suppliers, plant personnel, and others to implement cost reductions, product improvements, process improvements, and to support product build processes; Evaluate and implement engineering changes for improvements and cost reductions; Provide technical direction to manufacturing, procurement, assembly, aftermarket parts and service personnel; Other duties as assigned.Qualifications and Experience:7 years of experience required, experience with specialist vehicle design and manufacture preferred; Project Planning, Project Management, and supervisory experience is required; New Product Development experience is required; 3D design software experience is required, Autodesk Inventor is preferred; Experience with FEA is required; Thorough understanding of manufacturing and fabrication processes are required; Must have the ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members and others both inside and outside the immediate work group; Proficient within a Lean Transformation/ Continuous Improvement Culture; Able to contribute as a team member in an environment based on KPI’s and execution of SMART goals, with previous experience working in a continuous improvement culture of Lean manufacturing and 5S; Knowledge of Quality Management Systems, ISO 9001; Prior experience in an environment of SQDCP where everyone is valued and is encouraged to improve products and processes, and to help grow the business.EEO:Equal Opportunity Employer – Race/Color/Sex/Religion/National Origin/Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity/Vets/DisabilitiesBenefits:Progress Rail Services Corporation and its subsidiary and affiliate companies offer an excellent total compensation package including competitive salary, 401(k) plan with company match, available medical/dental/vision/life/disability insurance along with flexible spending and paid vacation and holidays.
