Come on over and work with like-minded professionals who share your interests and goals.Job DescriptionPaleoWest is seeking an Staff Architectural Historian/Historian who can assist in research and writing tasks on moderate to complex archival research, windshield and reconnaissance surveys, and can prepare built environment assessments and reports.
Experience in California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Idaho, and Utah is preferred.
The successful candidate will work closely with our nationwide Architectural History team as well as archaeologists in our Portland, Denver, and Salt Lake City offices.Qualifications:Graduate degree in architectural history, historic preservation, public history, heritage conservation, history or a closely related fieldAbility to meet the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualifications Standards for architectural history and historyExperience with the history, architecture, and infrastructure of California and Pacific NorthwestExperience conducting in-depth primary and secondary research at archives, museums, libraries and federal, state, and local repositories.Ability to conduct historical resources assessments and prepare associated documents and technical reportsExcellent oral and written communication skills and commitment to achieving team goalsKnowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines pertaining to historical resourcesThe ideal candidate will have several years’ experience in a variety of areas including:Leading small-scale historic properties surveysDeterminations of EligibilityNRHP NominationsExperience using WISAARD and OARRAConducting archival researchAssisting in writing historic contextsUnderstanding of relevant architectural stylesExperience working within appropriate regulatory nexusesAdditional InformationPaleoWest is one of the most respected firms in the industry, with offices across the United States.
