This individual will have a very active, hands-on role in all phases of design and development.
Responsibilities will include concept development, benchmark testing, manufacturing process development, product validation and documentation.
The focus will be on single use bag assembly manufacturing, capital equipment, and assembly technology for our unique liquid handling Freeze/Thaw products.
The role is based within our corporate headquarters in Billerica, MA.
In this role you will: Use your technical expertise to deliver innovative and robust fluid management products to innovate new-to-company applications.Operate as the technical lead in a design & manufacturing team to transfer new fluid management products into pilot production and through validation.Oversee and guide the evaluation of concept performance vs customer need and competitive benchmarking.Lead the design of new components, fixtures for prototyping and manufacturing equipment, and provide design direction to external equipment suppliers.Conceive of effective manufacturing process flows and direct the implementation of new processes.Manage the fabrication of prototype samples to support customer alpha and beta tests.Communicate status updates to senior management within the context of a structured phase-gate process.Support drafting and performance of ECOs, CAPAs, and SOPs.
Traits we believe make a strong candidate: Mechanical, Biomedical, or related engineering field with 5-15 years experience with a bachelors degree or 3-10 years experience with an advanced degree.Strong plastics/polymer forming, molding, bonding, and assembly experience.Analytical product simulation testing experience preferred.Engineering, process development or manufacturing experience with plastic component assembly in a validated environment is a plus.3D CAD expertise (Solidworks, Creo, etc) for product design, fixture design, fabrication, and simulated testing (FEA, Heat transfer, fluid dynamics).Experience with test development and execution for manufacturing processes;Ability to effectively operate within a team composed of members located in differing locations.Experience with medical device or bioprocess system components a strong plus.An understanding of regulatory requirements in bioprocessing and emerging life science applications.Some travel (domestic and international) should be expected (10-20%).
