Mechanical Engineer, Entry Level

Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) is seeking a mechanical engineer to join the design procedure development team.

The position involves thermal hydraulics technology that requires knowledge of computational two-phase thermal hydraulics or interest gaining that knowledge through additional work toward an advanced degree.

The successful candidate will work with a team of engineers to develop, verify, and qualify thermal hydraulic procedures that are used to evaluate existing and new reactor designs for naval application.

There are also opportunities to provide consulting support to address emergent issues for the fleet and new design communities and telework opportunities associated with machine learning, database design, and development of processes to support qualification.

Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Integrate with design and test groups as needed to understand development needs.

Define supporting testing.

Use test results to aid development and qualification efforts.
