We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer for our Mechanical Engineering Practice in Denver, CO.

In this role, you will work as part of a team to solve problems, set up testing, collect, analyze, and evaluate test results, with an emphasis on custom experiments and reporting of results to both technical experts and laypersons.

You will perform both field and lab work, experimental and analytical work, and will need to support test rationales and results with theoretical calculations.

You will be responsible for: 

  • Conducting hands-on failure analysis, planning and executing laboratory tests and field tests, performing calculations and analysis, and performing field inspections
  • Assisting the other engineering practice groups within Exponent on as-needed basis, and supporting senior staff in project development and marketing
  • Communicating effectively with other engineers and technicians, managers, clients, and administrative reports
  • Growing in the key aspects of consulting, including technical expertise and effective spoken and written communications, to develop a consulting practice serving clients both within and outside the firm

You will have the following skills and qualifications: 

  • Ph.D.

    in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with focused thesis/coursework/project experience in structural mechanics, dynamic analysis, stress analysis, machine design, vibration, manufacturing automation, or other comparable subjects utilizing both experimental and computational methods

  • Experience with data collection tools such as data acquisition systems, measurement tools, accelerometers, and/or load cells
  • Hands on experience in building systems and instrumenting devices for problem solving
  • Ability to apply mechanical engineering concepts to real-life applications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work within project teams with a strong desire to contribute
  • Potential for technical and project managerial leadership
  • Ability to convey technical information to individuals in engineering, business, legal and related industries
  • Desire to solve problems, work around roadblocks or setbacks, and contribute positively wherever asked
