– Glenview [ Link Removed ] Description/Job Summary TITLE: Mechanic Electrician POSITION: Full Time / Permanent / Direct Hire LOCATION: Glenview, IL REPORTS TO: Facilities Manager PAY: Competitive hourly wages and Signode benefits package options TIME TO FILL: ASAP SUMMARY Skilled labor position that requires a high level of technical proficiency in the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of all building equipment and systems located on the Glenview site.

Reasonable Accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions Install, Maintain, and repair high voltage wiring/systems (480,240,277,208 and 120 volts) Test electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, or fixtures, using testing devices, such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system Inventory, repair and maintain all lighting fixtures, cables, power distribution systems, dimmers, network and lighting control systems Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Systems including ventilation equipment, fan and drive motors, air and water cooled condensers, centrifugal, reciprocating and screw compressors, cooling towers, refrigeration and glycol piping, evaporator, steam and water coils, sheet metal ducts and damper control systems Low Pressure Steam Boilers and Hot Water Heating Systems including boilers, pumps, distribution piping, condensate return systems, steam traps, controls, automatic and manual valves, heat exchangers, water chemistry and safety systems Pneumatic, Electric, Electronic and Direct Digital Control Systems including thermostats, sensors, receiver controllers, relays, solenoids, switches, contactors and computerized energy management systems Fire Protection Systems including fire alarm and evacuation systems, sprinklers, fire pumps, extinguishers and Halon, Ansul and other dry chemical fire suppression systems Plumbing Systems including potable water lines, drains, sump and ejector pumps, pressure pumps, automatic valves, faucets, sinks, toilets and urinals Electrical Distribution Systems including medium voltage switchgear and distribution systems, Cogeneration system, wiring circuits, fuses, breakers, switches, LED, fluorescent and incandescent lighting, surge suppressors, generators, automatic transfer switches, starters, motor controllers, contactors and uninterruptable power supplies Security Systems including door, glass break and motion detectors, card readers, control panels, cameras and video recording and monitoring systems Food Service Equipment including refrigerators, ice makers and, steam tables POSITION QUALIFICATIONS SKILLS & ABILITIES Education: High school diploma (or GED) or equivalent; college education/trade school education and/or certification or licensing in a specific maintenance area highly desired Appropriate license/permit for trade such as Journeyman card, Master Electrician, or city/state licenses is a plus Certified as a Universal Technician for CFC’s is desirable Experience/abilities: 5 years of progressive experience in building maintenance required or equivalent combination of education and experience Thorough working knowledge of the safe practices, means, methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the design, installation, maintenance and repair of buildings Able to interpret, understand and follow federal, state and local codes and statutes Experience with HVAC systems; including ventilation equipment, fans and drive motors, air and water cooled condensers, centrifugal, reciprocating and screw compressors, cooling towers, refrigeration piping, evaporator, steam and water coils and damper control systems Experience with Low Pressure Steam Boilers and Hot Water Heating Systems; including boilers, pumps, distribution piping, condensate return systems, steam traps, controls, automatic and manual valves, heat exchangers, water chemistry and safety systems Experience with Pneumatic, Electric, Electronic and Direct Digital Control Systems; including thermostats, sensors, receiver controllers, relays, solenoids, switches, contactors and computerized energy management systems Experience with Fire Protection Systems; including fire alarm and evacuation systems, sprinklers, fire pumps, extinguishers and dry chemical fire suppression systems Experience with plumbing systems; including potable water lines, drains, sump and ejector pumps, pressure pumps, automatic valves, faucets, sinks, toilets and urinals Experience with Electrical Distribution Systems; including wiring circuits, busways, fuses, breakers, switches, fluorescent, incandescent, high intensity and LED lighting, battery backup systems, surge suppressors, generators, automatic transfer switches, variable speed drives, starters, motor controllers and contactors Ability to read, understand and work from oral and written instructions as well as architectural, electrical, mechanical and plumbing diagrams, schematics, blueprints and sketches Ability to establish appropriate priorities and to allocate resources and time for self and team Ability and willingness to train others and to develop work plans and schedules Skill in the use and care of tools and equipment used in the trades Working knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trades Computer skills: Proficiency in MS Office suite required (Word, Excel, and Outlook) Other Physical Requirements: Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, an individual is regularly required to reach with hands and arms, talk and hear, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
While performing essential functions, this role occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions, and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme heat and/or cold, risk of electric shock, and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed (steel toe shoes, safety glasses, ear plugs, gloves, etc.).
