Manufacturing Engineering Manager – Powertain

This is a Contract position in Novi, MI posted September 25, 2020.

TREMEC has an excellent opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineering Manager at its growing Novi, Michigan facility.

Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, this key role will have responsibility for leading a team of assembly, controls, industrial and manufacturing test engineers as they provide innovative solutions for plant design and operations.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities Lead process and assembly planning and execution, including process flow, PMEA, control plan, and work instruction development.

Design, evaluate, optimize, and write specifications for a complex production facility that includes advanced assembly lines/cells and end-of-line test stations which utilize a wide range of equipment, including robotics, HMI interfaces, torque equipment, and dynamometers.

Meet deliverables, including quality, timelines, cost efficiency and process capabilities.

Support program management and launch planning.

Manage supplier support.

Develop and maintain departmental budgets.

Coordinate with Sales team to create quotes for new business.

Promote continuous staff development.

Education and Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in industrial, mechanical, or electrical engineering Minimum of 10 years’ experience in an automotive manufacturing/assembly facility,5 of which have been at the Manufacturing Engineering manager level.

Automotive transmission or engine manufacturing experience is required.

Product launch experience preferred.

“Clean-room” manufacturing experience preferred.

Skills and Competencies Lean Manufacturing and JIT production system implementation.

Knowledge of material flow concepts, quality systems, and tooling systems.

Knowledge of OSHA requirements.

Automation, human/machine interface, and vision system implementation expertise.

Travel Requirements 10% or less travel internationally Note: Functional responsibilities subject to change through time
