SUMMARY:
Under direction of the Maintenance Manager and the Director of Maintenance, the Maintenance Electrician will have full and comprehensive knowledge of MHE systems and be able to repair and troubleshoot all aspects of it with minimal supervision. Maintain company assets with a high degree of craftsmanship and pride. Electrician will have a strong understanding of all material handling equipment (MHE) and hand tools, power tools, and equipment needed for maintenance and repairs of the MHE, facility, and assigned projects. Candidate will troubleshoot and repair of material handling equipment (MHE), conveyor and Mantissa tilt tray sorter, RSC navigation, frequency drives and parameters, servos and replacement, understanding of PLC programming, troubleshooting, and hardware installations, and repair of SICK camera scanners, Cubiscan, scales, tapers, carton erector, etc.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Inspects, repairs, installs, services and maintains electrical systems and sub-systems including conduit and duct systems, lighting and power circuits, transformers, control equipment, switches, switchboards, fixtures and bell and buzzer systems; works from plans, drawings, blueprints or specifications.
· Installs or replaces necessary interior and exterior wiring for equipment, appliances and lighting.
· Installs and performs repair of electrical systems for lighting, heating, ventilation and air conditioning; replaces fuses.
· Responds to electrical emergencies and assists in the diagnosis of outages and interruptions of service. Plans corrective measures and performs repairs to DC systems as it pertains to DC requirements.
· Diagnoses and resolves difficult electrical problems; calls electrical company as necessary; knows and understands all safety procedures of the Boardriders DC and observes safety of others and recommends precautionary action while repairs are in progress as necessary. Allows no work to be performed when conditions are considered unsafe.
· Observes and complies with federal, state and local electrical codes.
· Operates a variety of tools and power equipment including saws, voltage tester, ohmmeter, multimeter and other maintenance tools and equipment.
· Coordinates, based on the ARC Flash training guidelines and certification, the cleaning and maintenance of electrical equipment and dedicated electrical spaces. Maintains condition of dedicated electrical spaces in a safe and legal condition. Coordinates the storage of electrical supplies and equipment in legal areas.
· Provides training and guidance to other maintenance personnel as assigned to properly and safely complete work.
· Assists in performing other maintenance duties such as assisting in air conditioning and plumbing troubleshooting and repairs as it related to electrical discipline.
· Knows and understands all safety procedures within the DC.
· Operates a DC vehicle and is responsible for maintenance and the safe operation of that vehicle.
· Perform other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
· General Journeyman Electrician License is required.
· Four years of journey-level commercial/industrial electrical maintenance and repair experience is required.
· Must be able to distinguish color-coded cables.
· Knowledge of principles, methods, equipment and tools used in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and electronic equipment
· Knowledge of all Arc Flash guidelines, basic electrical theory and calculation of formulas; electrical codes and their proper implementation
· Compressor knowledge and repair; Licensed electrical design, repair, replacement duties; certified rooftop assignments; Fire system knowledge (building management system)
· Experienced working with health and safety regulations; recordkeeping techniques; electrical systems and repair of heating and cooling systems found in large commercial and public buildings.
· Ability to repair, install and maintain a wide variety of electrical systems, including low voltage DC and up to 480 volts 3 phase AC, and equipment; make arithmetic calculations related to specialty quickly and accurately
· Work from blue prints, shop drawings and sketches and use a variety of tools and machines utilized in the basic trade including voltmeter, ohmmeter, multimeter and hydraulic truck lifts;
· Perform other skilled maintenance work as assigned, such as prepare cost estimates
· Plumbing, drywall, painting, and woodworking experience
· Ability to read and interpret Electrical, Mechanical, Hydraulic schematics
· Ability to read and interpret Construction and Building blueprints
· Ability to operate scissor and boom lift, sit down counterbalance forklift.
· Ability to perform maintenance welding and fabrication as needed.
· Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with other Maintenance department associates
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:
· 5+ years’ experience in a hands-on high-level maintenance role in a large automated distribution center or manufacturing environment.
· Advanced proficiency in electrical and mechanical maintenance; TGW conveyor experience a plus
· High school diploma or equivalent
· AA degree from an accredited vocational, technical, or junior college institution preferred
· Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as business needs demand
· Strong English language communication skills, both verbal and written and the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of staff
· Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in various situations
· Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
· Ability to work independently with little to no direction required
· Efficient time management and prioritization of workload
· Pragmatic approach to problem solving
· Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) speaking a plus
