THE MAIN RESPONSIBILITIESAs a Software Architect in our Strategic Planning and Transformation organization, the intern will be a part of the Digital Technology Strategy department work on technology vision and strategy for internal Infrastructure Operations and exciting emerging products such as Lumen Edge.The Intern will leverage technical skills to assist with hands-on technical evaluations, writing ops automations, troubleshooting issues, writing documentation, assisting in research, and more for Infrastructure Operations, Cloud, and EdgeThe ideal candidate will have technical skills and need a high level of engagement and the ability to take initiative, ask questions and work in a team environment.- Experience working within the UNIX/Linux shell environment- Leveraging modern REST APIs (testing, etc.)- Writing code (leveraging Object-Oriented & ECMAScript based languages in the Full Stack)- Server and/or network environments WHAT WE LOOK FOR IN A CANDIDATE
– EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS – Enrolled at a 4-year accredited college or university, rising senior or master’s level education status at the start of the internship, graduating August 2022 – May 2023. – Major/Degree: In pursuit of degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS, IT or a related technology field.
– PROFICIENCY AND UNDERSTANDING OF; – Using Cloud Native principles in Cloud, Edge and on-premise environments. – AWS, Azure and/or Google Cloud Platform – ServiceNow – Salesforce – JAVA – Python – Morpheus – Virtualization platforms such as from VMware, and OpenStack – Container platforms such as from Kubernetes, and OpenShift
– PROFESSIONAL ATTRIBUTES – Strong drive for results and taking initiative – Ability to be resourceful and adaptable – Willingness to ask questions – A self-starter – Ability to collaborate and have agility while making effective decisions – Strong written and verbal communication skills – A curious mindset – Ability to interact with business partners and drive the conversation. – Flexible and adapts well to change
– WORK SETTING – Ideally the position will be in one of the following offices: Remote/ work from home. – Intern must be able to work 30-40 hours be week during the 10-week program (June – August) – Intern must have reliable transportation to/from work location (Lumen does not provide transportation to/from Lumen office locations) – US work authorization WHAT TO EXPECT NEXTAfter completion and submission of your application, you will be asked to participate in a virtual video interview.
