Industrial Electrician

Thompson Construction Group, Inc.

This is a Full-time position in North Charleston, SC posted October 9, 2021.

This position will be working either 2nd at our client site (The Boeing Company) in Charleston, SC.

**THIS IS A DIRECT POSITION SO THERE WILL NOT BE PER DIEM OFFERED**

This position will require the industrial electrician to have the skills and for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing electrical equipment, wires and relays. May be required to maintain, repair and demolish (as needed) electrical wire, conduit, switches, circuit breakers, motor control centers, motors, relays and other electrical apparatus in accordance with relevant codes.

Job Requirements:

  • Bench and field calibrate pressure, temperature, flow sensors, assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures
  • Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components. Set up control valves, positioners, and i/p transducers. Bench/field test and troubleshoot these devices
  • Working with 480, 240, 208, 110Vac and 24Vdc wiring
  • Test fabricated and installed equipment to ensure adequacy of repair and safe operation upon commissioning
  • Operate fork lift or hoist to transport work or maneuver equipment as necessary along using various lifts or ladders to safely position self at heights to complete a task
  • Attend daily meeting to receive and discuss work orders that include dismantling, repair, or changing of pipes, valves, process equipment, structures, etc.
  • Remove product from dismantled equipment by washing surfaces prior to transport
  • Perform housekeeping within areas of responsibility, both in the field and in the shop
  • Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) according to specific job task

REQUIREMENTS:

Education:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
AAS degree, trade school certificate or certified apprenticeship is preferred.

Experience:
7+ years in construction or maintenance in an industrial setting
5+ years’ experience as a technician

Skills: 

  • Must have strong working knowledge of Ohms Law and Electrical Theory as is applies to an industrial environment
  • Must have a strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • Experience working with Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) and strongly prefer candidates with background working with Prime Power (up to 4160V)
  • All candidates MUST be proficient in troubleshooting motors, circuits and drives within an industrial setting
  • Must be able to read/interpret Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) in order to identify instruments and control loops
  • Must be able to create single line electrical and loop drawings along with reading control wiring loop sheets, PLC ladder logic and single line diagrams
  • Must be able to solve practical problems using rational logic and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Must be able to perform basic math using application of fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions with algebraic and geometric constructions
  • Must be able to utilize the computer to process work orders, complete required training, order supplies, etc. using a computerized maintenance management system
  • Preferred candidates will have previous experience in anIndustrial Setting

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS required to perform the essential duties of this job: 

  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Fork lift operator certificate and/or pass test.
  • Elevated work platform operator certificate and/or pass test.

Must be able to pass background check and drug screen.
