Amd
What you do at AMD changes everything
At AMD, we push the boundaries of what is possible.
We believe in changing the world for the better by driving innovation in high-performance computing, graphics, and visualization technologies
– building blocks for gaming, immersive platforms, and the data center.
Developing great technology takes more than talent: it takes amazing people who understand collaboration, respect, and who will go the “extra mile” to achieve unthinkable results.
It takes people who have the passion and desire to disrupt the status quo, push boundaries, deliver innovation, and change the world.
If you have this type of passion, we invite you to take a look at the opportunities available to come join our team.
GPU Graphics and Compute Architect, Advanced Rendering, Ray/Path Tracing
THE ROLE:
Create powerful new products that enable our customers, partners, and developers in general to tackle their computing task or visualization needs productively and creatively.
We build state of the art hardware, software, and algorithms in the field of graphics, compute architecture, computer vision, and machine learning to come up with appropriate SW-HW partitioning, architectures, models and specifications for HW/SW/FW implementations.
Develop new hardware, algorithms, or adaptations to existing systems to enable new ground-breaking capabilities and experiences.
THE PERSON:
As a GPU Graphics Architect, you will work in a hardware/software codesign environment to help shape industry leading ray tracing algorithms, their implementations on hardware and the hardware architecture itself; all together resulting in some of the most widely used and high performance rendering systems in the world.
Along with researching, analyzing and improving software and hardware architectures for today’s industry leading graphics applications, you will also ensure AMDs continued leadership in algorithm and processor design through influencing internal performance design tools and methodologies to meet performance expectations of future rendering systems and workloads.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Architect, model and analyze hardware and software codesigned features for new ray tracing technologies.
Provide PPA and schedule estimates and tradeoffs
Identify emerging ray tracing and rendering algorithms and technology to guide GPU designs
Analyze ray tracing algorithms to identify performance limiters in hardware and software on both silicon hardware and pre-silicon GPUs
Work with software, hardware, and architecture implementation teams to identify issues and improve performance
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
Masters, PhD or 5 years industry experience in relevant field (CS, EE, CE, Math, Physics)
Experience in ray/path-tracing hardware acceleration and software algorithms
GPU driver/compiler understanding with GPU graphics programming experience
Knowledge in GPU general-purpose computing
Multi-Core, Multi-Thread Architectures enabling performant irregular workloads
Strong programming & hardware modeling skills in C/C++ (GPGPU Sim or Multi-sim a plus)
Scripting language (Python, Perl) and UNIX/Linux experience, RTL a plus
D3D, Vulkan and OpenGL graphics application/driver knowledge and experience desired
OpenCL/CUDA/ROCm development experience desired
