Responsibilities: In this position you will plan, conduct and direct the evaluation and certification of property loss prevention products, with little or no supervision, in the area of building materials and assemblies.
The testing will push the product’s performance as it relates to wind, fire and other exposures in our world class, state of the art laboratories.
You will help to increase the technical knowledge and provide solutions to the problems of property loss prevention and mitigation.
Duties will include, but are not limited to, the development of proposals, project management, supervision of tests, documentation of results, preparation of written reports and other complex tasks associated with third party product certification.
In addition, duties may include making presentations and providing representation to trade associations.
The working environment includes both the office and laboratory.
Overnight travel, to consult with customers, attend technical conferences and to conduct and monitor tests at test facilities, is typically less than 20%.
Qualifications: MS 4 years of related experience in technical area or BS 7 years of related experience A technical degree in civil, structural, or mechanical engineering, or other related field is required.
Knowledge of, and experience with, building materials and components and or product certification testing is preferred.
A background in roofing design and construction is beneficial.
The successful candidate should have demonstrated project management skills, results analysis skills, superior written and verbal communication skills and computer proficiency with programs such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
Professional registration and / or knowledge of FM Global Property Loss Prevention Datasheets is beneficial.
Knowledge of FM Approvals Standards is also preferred.
Candidate must have the ability to read, write and speak English proficiently and the ability to understand and follow English instructions.
