Engineering Fellow – Power Design

This is a Contract position in Tucson, AZ posted December 14, 2020.

We are Raytheon Missiles and Defense, a technology and innovation leader specializing in defense, security and civil markets where you’ll be part of a diverse global team working together to solve some of the most demanding challenges on the planet.

We are seeking an Engineering Fellow to assume a key role within the Electrical Products team.

As a fellow, it is expected that the candidate work across Product Lines and Business Units as critical needs dictate of the Enterprise.

Additionally, the Fellow will seek out and establish apprenticeships to enable a teaching culture at RMD.

In this position, they must have exhibited a proven track record with national recognition in Power Design and architecture.

The candidate of choice will encompass a history of design innovation validated by patents and technical papers and have demonstrated experience in power conversion development across the entire product life cycle.

Job Description and Key Responsibilities: Lead in the development of power system and subsystem architectures for RMD products Lead in the selection of discrete and modular power solutions for RMD products.

Lead teams and oversee supplier power subsystem development activities Support architecture and topology trade studies for power systems and subsystems Propose and coordinate independent research and development (IRAD) projects for the advancement of power conversion technology in RMD products Ensure balance of risk, performance, and cost on RMD power development programs Be accountable to leadership for technical decisions Participate in major technical review boards, e.g., Failure Review Board Communicate and collaborate with Program Management and Technical Leadership, Engineering Leadership, Manufacturing, Suppliers, and Customers.

Guide, apprentice, mentor, and train employees within the Systems Power and Control area U.S.

Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S.

DoD Security Clearance within 1 year of start date Required Skills, and Experience: U.S.

citizenship required Must be a recognized expert in power systems architecture or power conversion design for aerospace applications A minimum of 12 years of Power Design experience Strong experience performing power architecture design and providing trade studies for power systems and subsystems Experience leading teams in a program environment to achieve program goals Experience in power systems or power converter design for aerospace products Professional design experience with voltages up to 440V or greater Strong experience in topology research for high performance AC-DC and DC-DC power converters Experience with modern control techniques for power converters inclusive of digital Experience providing guidance, coaching / mentoring and training to other employees across the business within area of expertise .

Required Education: Electrical Engineering Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited University, with 12 years’ experience.

Desired Skills, and Experience: MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or other related engineering field Experience in simulation, modeling and analysis techniques for power conversion electronics and components Experience with aircraft, shipboard and vehicle military specifications for power and interface compliance Professional experience with the development of custom magnetic devices Professional design experience with Electro-Magnetic Interference (EMI) concerns Professional design experience with power converter designs of up to 2KW or greater Professional leadership experience Professional experience with proposal development.

Ability to influence others to achieve technical and programmatic goals Proactive problem solving experience Ability to develop a business strategic vision and execute changes This position requires the successful issuance, transfer or maintenance of any clearances and/or accesses necessary for the position.
