SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE
The Electrician JM1 removes, installs, troubleshoots, repairs and tests electrical equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / DUTIES
- Repairs, installs, replaces and tests electrical circuits, cable, equipment and systems.
- Uses hand and power tools and testing equipment.
- Inspects and tests electrical equipment, lighting, signal, communication and power circuits.
- Works from drawings, blueprints, schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Participates in special projects as required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The Electrician JM1 must be able to meet and successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The following physical demands are representative to the position.
The position is active and requires extensive standing, walking, sitting, bending, kneeling, stooping, crawling, climbing, and crouching. Along with such movements, employee is required to lift parts/machinery of up to 75 pounds. Additional demands are listed below:
- Able to climb ladders and work off scaffolding
- Able to lift, carry, and or push up to 50 – 75 lbs. throughout the shift (including overtime)

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS
- Requires a High School Diploma or GED
- Must be able to read and understand drawings, tech manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams and specifications.
- Must be able to use all electrical test equipment.
- Basic math skills and to use hand and power tools.
- Able to read a tape measure.
- REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Must have a minimum of 3 years of ship repair experience and qualifications.
- Must be able to speak and understand Basic English
