Data Warehouse and ETL Solution Architect / Lead – Healthcare

We currently have an opening for a Data Warehouse and ETL Solution Architect.

As a Solution Architect – Publish Database, you will provide best-fit architectural solutions for one or more projects; you will assist in defining scope and sizing of work; and anchor Proof of Concept developments. You will provide solution architecture for the business problem, platform integration with third party services, designing and developing complex features for clients’ business needs.

The Solution Architect will provide technology direction and leadership, ensures project implementation compliance, and utilizes technology research to innovate, integrate, and manage technology solutions. You will collaborate with some of the best talent in the industry to create and implement innovative high-quality solutions, participate in Sales and various pursuits focused on our clients’ business needs.

The Solution Architect also performs a technical team lead role on many of our professional services projects. You should have good written and verbal communication skills and experience leading consulting and collaboration with various technical and business stakeholders. Mentoring and coaching colleagues is an important part of this role. You will use Agile methodologies to drive project success through developing sprints based on user story requirements, timelines and budget.

This role is considered part of the Business Unit Leadership team and may mentor lead technical consultants and /or development team members.

Responsibilities

  • Own and aggressively drive forward specific areas of technology architecture. Provide architectural solutions/designs to project execution teams for implementation.
  • Provide technology architectural assessments, strategies, and roadmaps for one or more technology domains.
  • Lead projects within architecture. Work with Product Owner/Business Analysts to understand functional requirements and interact with other cross-functional teams to architect, design, develop, test, and release features.
  • Develop Proof-of-Concept projects to validate new architectures and solutions.
  • Support one or more Agile teams with planning, scoping and creation of technical solutions for ongoing customer engagements.
  • Liaise with offshore team and clients for resolving technical dependencies, issues, and risks.
  • Mentor and provide architectural guidance to multiple teams building innovative applications.
  • Drive common vision, practices and capabilities across teams.
  • Engage with business stakeholders to understand required capabilities, integrating business knowledge with technical solutions
  • Engage with Technical Architects and technical staff to determine the most appropriate technical strategy and designs to meet business needs.
  • Demonstrate broad solutions for technical leadership, impacting significant technical direction, exerting influence outside of the immediate team and driving change
  • Key activities and responsibilities:
    • Own changes to and growth of the publishing layer, including: (1) extending the dimensional data model, (2) extending and tuning the ETL code, and (3) adapting the ABC process/code as new ETL and data are added the solution.
    • Provide direction and oversight to the ETL, data modeling, and data ops teams to scope, design, build and test new components (ETL, ABC, data model), including review and documentation as appropriate.
    • Create design patterns and templates for the team to use in order to standardize, validate and communicate the designs and approach the team will use to create the new components.
    • Select and configure the appropriate AWS services and components to be included within the solution, and assist the team in working through issue resolution with AWS and ESI/Cigna teams as necessary.
    • Play a lead role analysis of business and technical requirements to define the appropriate solution approach, components and designing communicating

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience with data platforms and analytics.
  • Understand Cloud first approach to data and analytics.
  • Strong Data Warehouse design and implementation skills- specifically Redshift.
  • Strong understanding of ETL concepts
  • At least 5 years of experience with Data Warehouse ETL technologies, extracting and loading data to data lake.
  • At least 2 years of experience working with AWS Glue, Amazon Redshift and Cloud ETL Technologies
  • At least 2 years of experience working with automated deployment tools (CI/CD, DevOps) such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub, CodePipeline, etc.
  • Leadership and team management experience with ability to provide strategic planning and oversight.
  • At least 5 years of experience in technology consulting, enterprise and solutions architecture and architectural frameworks.
  • Have a solid understanding of delivery methodology and lead teams in the implementation of the solution according to the design/architecture.
  • Experience in project and solution estimation and team structure definition.
  • Fluent and current on architecture trends with an eye on market/technical conditions and future direction.
  • Experience in defining new architectures and ability to drive an independent project from an architectural stand point.
  • Experience leading customer workshop sessions to educate customers on the latest technology trends and best practices.
  • Proven track record of leadership roles delivering solutions within defined timeframes.
  • Demonstrated success in performing work and managing complex and/or large consulting projects.
  • Proficient in authoring, editing and presenting technical documents.
  • Ability to elicit requirements and communicate clearly with non-technical individuals, development teams, and other ancillary project members.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical staff.
  • Experience working with a globally distributed team and managing off-shore teams.
  • Desire to mentor younger team members and develop their skills.
  • Experience working on multiple concurrent projects.
  • Experience leading internal initiatives.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Be independent and self-driven.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Must be open to occasional travel (2-3% or less).

Must Have Skills/Experience

  • Experience leading a team of 5 – 10 hands on technologists working to build DW/ETL solutions in a project capacity
  • Strong ETL/DW leadership and architecture skills, with the ability to design and extend solutions re the Glue ETL and data layer
  • Experience leading teams to implement AWS Redshift and Glue, hands on experience in the past very nice to have
  • Excellent communication and customer interaction skills with ability to work with key stakeholders
  • Hands on dimensional data modeling experience
