Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Civil/Structural Section Lead, we’ll count on you to:

  • Take responsibility for staff development, including career development plans, inside and outside training, and morale.
  • Take administrative responsibility for section staff and technical service functions; lead and coordinate services with other sections
  • Function as Project Manager and take responsibility for production on projects in addition to management responsibilities
  • Serve as a technical resource for the team by mentoring and developing staff capabilities.
  • Take responsibility for operations of the team and coordinate staff assignments to satisfy HDR safety policies, contracted and proposed workloads, marketing support needs, internal training requirements and coordination, maintain billability targets, and identify areas of concern.
  • Review project scopes, schedules, budgets, safety plans and quality assurance requirements, that team members clearly communicate any issues with Project Management and Resource Business Group Management.
  • Work cooperatively with National Directors and marketing staff to support local and national marketing and production efforts, including marketing planning, staffing, proposals and interviews
  • Identify staffing needs, and develop business plans and as necessary to address those needs.

    Participate in the recruitment, interviews, selection, and on-boarding of new personnel.

  • Take responsibility for maintenance of office and field equipment used by the team
  • Evaluate personnel performance on an annual and as needed basis, including preparation of review documentation, identification of areas of concern, and development of remedial action plans, as needed.
  • Implement, monitor and support company policy
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications

•Bachelor’s degree in Engineering

•10+ year’s engineering experience

•Professional registration or license, or obtain registration within 1 year.

•Strong communication and listening skills

•Ability to handle multiple assignments

•Good leadership and organizational skills

•An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

•Knowledge of Dam Safety

• Knowledge of CAD desirable

Candidates who reside locally in the Portland Maine area are preferred.
