Civil Engineer – Ports & Marine

This is a Full-time position in Orange, CA posted December 10, 2021.

AECOM is seeking a Civil Engineer to be based in Orange, California.

As a Civil Engineer you will work, as part of project teams, to develop a range of engineering scheme solutions from initial concept through to detailed design for implementation and support roles on construction supervision contracts.

This is a diverse role that will involve your contribution and insight to the effective delivery of its current portfolio of projects and to bids for new work within an existing team of engineers.
You will be joining of a global team of 500+ maritime specialists who support on a wide range of maritime developments including container terminals, LNG facilities, waterfront developments, cruise and ferry terminals, marinas and harbors as well as coastal schemes such as beach development and coastal protection schemes.
The Orange office has an established track record of successfully delivering maritime services to port owners/operators, contractors and transportation agencies as well as government agencies, international financial institutions and private developers.

Our maritime experience includes port planning, port economics and due diligence, engineering and design, construction supervision for local and global clients.
This position is expected to begin immediate.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
+ Undertaking design and planning activities on maritime projects
– container terminals, mining/bulk, oil/gas, marinas, ports and harbors, coastal defense and development schemes;
+ Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff’s specific area of expertise.
+ Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
+ Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.
+ Uses expertise in all steps of completing discipline component of PS&E package.
+ Prepares design quality control plans and performs quality control review of design calculations and/or drawings.
+ Prepares technical specification sections.
+ Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.
+ Coordinate with other in-house engineering disciplines as needed
+ Occasional short to medium term site visits may also become necessary depending on project requirements
+ Maritime design and planning, including maritime codes/standards such as USACE, PIANC, OCIMF.
+ Work under supervision of a project manager
Minimum Requirements
+ Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or related field
+ Minimum 4 years or more of experience in civil infrastructure
+ Professional Engineering (PE) License
+ Valid Driver’s license required
Preferred Qualifications
+ A team player, who is; enthusiastic, hard-working, technically proficient, with ambition and drive
+ Demonstrable interest in developing a career in Ports & Marine Engineering
+ Master of Science (with civil engineering concentration)
+ Eight (8) years or more of progressive engineering experience
+ California Civil PE license
+ Experience in the design of marine infrastructure facilities including container terminals
+ Excellent oral and written communication skills
+ Knowledge of computer analysis and design software such as Inroads, Civil 3D, GIS and (or equivalent).
+ Expertise in AutoCAD and MicroStation
+ The ability to work with, interpret, and apply national and local, and marine related codes.
+ Proficient in the use of computers for engineering calculations, spreadsheets, and report writing
+ Ability to multi-task and be flexible and able to adapt to rapidly changing project requirements and deadlines
+ Some travel maybe required
