Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited university.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in a chemical production environment with demonstrated ability to apply problem solving skills to lead improvement efforts.

Desired Characteristics Minimum of 7 years’ experience in production or process engineering in a chemical reaction plant.

Very strong analytical and problem-solving skills Experience with Operations Safe Work Permitting Experience with Maintenance Coordination and SAP PM Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to empower and lead non-exempt work teams Self-starter that can deliver results Team player and leads through influence Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to Process Safety Management and ISO 9000/QS 9001 quality systems Ability to make data driven decisions and utilize Six Sigma and Lean tools Knowledge of safety agency regulations Strong background in the interpretation of engineering drawings / specifications and manufacturing processes Strong organizational skills with a high attention to detail Ability to manage multiple assignments and prioritize work Knowledge of ISO / quality procedures Strong communication skills, both written and verbal Ability to communicate clearly and concisely to key stakeholders Six Sigma/Lean/5S training or equivalent Quality certification What will you be doing?

The chemical plant production engineer is a key role with within the organization that will provide production engineering support to ensure that the Beaumont plant production goals are achieved.

The successful candidate will have visibility across many functional groups (engineering, operations, maintenance, etc.) and will continuously drive to optimize productivity, efficiency, reliability, safety and environmental performance, and cost.

Essential Functions: Support all Environmental, Health, and Safety programs, policies, and regulations.

Ensures production is continually optimized by monitoring process vulnerabilities, working with operators, and coordinating with maintenance and engineering support Monitor daily operations, utilities systems, production rates and product quality.

Tracks efficiency and downtime for chemical production units.

Develops SOP’s, work instructions, and night and weekend plans Develops Gantt charts for production shutdowns Performs process troubleshooting on reaction processes including heat & mass balance, heat transfer, and equipment performance calculations.

Creates Management of Change documents for changes in the process for daily manufacturing operations.

In collaboration with the engineering team, develop process control strategy, maintain control system code, and ensure that historical performance data is maintained.

Train operators in new procedures, processes, and systems.

Network with other engineers both internally and externally to the plant to leverage and share plant improvement learnings.

Conduct Root cause analysis to identify root causes of defects and implement appropriate countermeasures.

In the absence of the operations manager assume full responsibilities for the operations department management duties This list is not all-inclusive and may include other duties as assigned and necessary for the operation and management of the overall plant.
