Job Duties and Responsibilities

As an Application Architect/Tech.

Lead in IHS-IT, you will lead a team of software engineers providing technical, thought leadership and architectural strategy for IHS.

Position will require full-time, onsite presence at our Englewood, CO.

Position responsibilities include:

• Build and mold consensus, lead through collaboration with our internal and external stakeholders
– serving as a trusted partner who delivers high-quality, effective solutions.

• Ability to evaluate and make strategic technology decisions long-term

• Develop and maintain technology roadmap

• Evaluate current systems for capabilities, performance, scale, challenges, and growth regularly

• Provide hands-on architecture leadership to Engineering teams and serve as trusted advisor to Business teams

• Regularly audit and evaluate capabilities of current, new and emerging technology stacks

• Develop architecture and solutions based on domain expertise spanning content ingestion / delivery, metadata management, transcoding, encoding, storage, and ad-insertion.

• Promote adoption of modern software development standards.

Evolve OnTech & WFM/OFS architecture to meet future business needs, including but not limited to new features and offerings.

Utilize cutting edge tools, solutions and frameworks.

• Knowledge of standard eCommerce platforms like Shopify/Magento and understanding of custom Web sites

• Knowledge of mobile devices and mobile technology (Apple, Android and other mobile devices)

• Validate designs regularly against industry standards

• Drive simplicity, increase resilience and scale of the services

• Encourage and foster automated builds to deploy anytime

• Ability to address any security vulnerabilities and are always ready to deploy

• Scale things separately with minimal disruption to our viewers.

Technologies in our environment:

Below are some of the key technologies that make up our environment.

While we do not expect you to have a detailed understanding of each, the more of these you are familiar with the better.

• Programming Languages: Java, Python, node js, javascript, react etc.;

• Automated testing of applications, Continuous Integration (CI), TDD;

• Core Data services: Kafka etc.;

• Core Databases: Oracle, SQLServer etc.;

• Core platform services: Linux, Docker, Rancher, AWS etc.;

• Serverless / Function as a service concepts, implementations and patterns;

• Web scale, distributed systems.

Specific qualifications:

A successful Architect/Tech.

Lead will:

• Be available to work onsite out of our Englewood, CO office;

• Have a four-year college degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent professional experience. Master’s degree preferred;

• Have 12+ years of professional enterprise development, operations, platform architecture and/or infrastructure experience.

• Experience building and managing large, highly-available Internet scale and grade applications;

• Familiar with Cloud native architecture, microservices principles, protocols
– gRPC, private/public cloud, PaaS, Devops methodologies, CI-CD pipelines and SRE practices.

• Strong knowledge of device ecosystem (Apple, Android, Roku), players., codecs and video standards.

• Very good knowledge in frontend & backend development

• Experience working with DevOps, IT Security, Compliance, Data Networks, and Site Reliability Engineering in the enterprise;
