Exciting opportunity in Raytheon Intelligence and Space (RIS) as an Analog & Power Systems design engineer based in Marlborough, Massachusetts, with responsibilities having significant impact, recognition, and growth in the organization. The engineer will have responsibility for the design, development, integration and test of cutting-edge analog circuit card assembly and power system designs used in satellite communication terminals utilized in a variety of airborne, shipboard, ground transportable and ground fixed applications. The engineer will reside within the Hardware Engineering Center (HWEC) Communications & Airspace Management Systems (CAMS) Directorate. The Engineer is responsible for full-scope Design, Verification & Validation (IV&V) solutions for satellite terminal products, including architecture trades, design, development, integration, deployment, and sustainment of satellite terminal systems and associated integrated system verification solutions. The Analog & Power Systems Design Engineer will provide analog & power systems support to the Protected Communications Systems Product Line primarily for Satellite Communication Products. The analog & power systems support encompasses the design, development, evaluation, and test of power filters, power supplies, and power distribution systems for in-house ground based and spaceflight hardware programs. Insight will be provided for out-of-house designed power filters, power supplies, and power distribution systems.
Required Skills:
Candidate must have:
- A minimum of 8 years applicable experience in analog and power circuit design and analysis.
- Experience with schematic capture and board layout tools (Mentor Graphics)
- Understanding of board level design and ability to debug board level hardware.
- Expert knowledge in one or more of the following Power System Architecture design, Analog CCA Design and Test, Digital CCA Design and Test System Integration, COTS Product Integration, Power Distribution.
- Experience writing test procedures, conducting tests, and be proficient operating lab test equipment.
- Specific emphasis and experience should be on direct current systems for ground based and aerospace applications.
- Experience with EE design tools: Keysight ADS, Mentor Graphics? Design Suite.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and writing as well as thorough knowledge of all Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Powerpoint)
- Broad based hardware engineering background.
- Proficient in use of lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
- Strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficient in analog & digital board layout and experience with PWB manufacturing.
- Experience writing test procedures, conducting tests, and be proficient operating lab test equipment.
- PWB Signal Integrity Analysis
- Experience in the development and design of electronic circuit designs, multi-assembly system/unit design, and processor designs a plus.
- Demonstrated knowledge of characteristics of magnetics (including inductor/transformer modeling), magnetization inductance, magnetization current, leakage inductance, intra-winding and inter-winding capacitance, self-resonant frequency, characteristics and limitations of magnetic cores, core saturation, core loss, high frequency losses, core reset, winding techniques for optimization of desired magnetics, and design of current transformers.
- Proven ability to take a design concept from the block diagram or requirements level and develop a complete hardware design, and verifying via test and integration
- Hands-on multi-disciplined team-based experience.
- US Citizenship.
- Ability to obtain a DoD secret clearance.
Desired Skills:
- 5+ years? experience in Task Management or other Lead role on Large Development jobs.
- Experience with EMI, EMP, HEMP (High-Altitude Electromagnetic Pulse) and Lightning Design and Test
- Experience as an IPT or CPT Lead.
- EVMS Certified and professional exposure to EVMS or similar budget tracking system.
- Existing security clearance
Required Education:
Bachelor?s degree in engineering, science, mathematics or related technical degree.
