Manager, Systems EngineeringLocationMoorpark, CAEmployment typeRegular Full TimeID1521Apply NowSummaryThe Manager, Systems Engineering, will work in the High Altitude Pseudo Satellite (HAPS) business unit’s management team to develop innovative HAPS Unmanned Solar systems, for defense and commercial applications.
Responsible for building and managing a systems engineering organization that has the capabilities and capacities to meet HAPS business unit needs across the stages of development including system architecting, requirements definition, concept design, prototyping, detailed design, verification, production, FAA certification and lifecycle support.Position ResponsibilitiesManages a group of systems engineering professionals, including budget planning, staffing, training, performance evaluation and career developmentProcess owner for all system engineering processesPlans workload for System engineer design activities to meet project demandsProvides technical expertise and guidance to team to meet applicable deadlinesMaintains a high level of customer satisfaction with both internal and external customersManages requirements traceability and evolution through the system development cycleMentors other engineers within the teamDefine, support and document the tailoring the Development processes for successful execution (ie, Systems Engineering Management Plan)Work independently with little supervision.
Provide articulate, accurate instructions and guidance to Engineers as well as team members outside the departmentFrequently interacts with subordinate supervisors, customers and/or functional peer group managers, normally involving matters between functional areasCommunicate with senior and executive managementOther duties as assignedSpecial RequirementU.S.

1324b(a)(3) required.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)BS degree in Engineering (i.E., Systems, Electrical, Computer, etc.) is required or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience10 12 years of experience in a systems engineering role, with minimum 5 years managerial experienceAerospace systems engineering experience preferredExperience with the development process of Requirements, Design, Verification and ValidationExperience writing Systems Safety protocols and ensuring personnel safety during field testingExperience in taking a product from concept to production with contract manufacturers a plusManaged requirements traceability and evolution through the system development cycleExperienced in providing weekly status of system development progress with requirements burn downAllocated requirements to subsystem & engineering coordinationEvaluated system performance thresholds and providing directionDevelopment of instrumented flight test vectors and data acquisitionProvided input for model development and simulation analysisHas developed Systems Engineering Management Plans, systems test plans, procedures and reports, reviewed and interpreted customer specificationAbility to travel both domestically and internationally required (up to 25%)Other Qualifications & Desired CompetenciesMS preferred in Computer Science, Aero-Mechanical Eng., Electrical Eng.
