Account Director, Public Affairs and Crisis (Washington DC Based, Hybrid Work Structure)
The Role
This position will be based out of our Washington, DC office.
The Account Director will be responsible for acting as the day to day point of contact for key accounts in the Health Policy and Technology arenas; developing strategy and communications plans, overseeing execution of deliverables, drafting critical documents (op-eds, white papers, press releases) and managing media relations.
The ideal candidate will have communications and regulatory policy experience with strong issues and reputation management skills.
This is an opportunity to work across a variety of industry verticals employing both strategic guidance and campaign management executions in a client-facing capacity.
Responsibilities
Act as daily point-of-contact for clients and oversee the execution of deliverables by junior staffers.
Contribute to the development of strategy and communications plans
Management of complex communications campaigns
Be the go-to for initial drafts of op-eds, white papers, policy briefs, backgrounders and press releases
Manage media relations to include pitching and serving as spokesperson as needed
Oversee budgeting and account financial issues
Play an active role in mentoring junior staff and overseeing high-quality deliverables
Stakeholder mapping, issue and reputation management
Qualifications
Experience with regulatory public affairs campaigns, communications and public relations across a variety of industries
Backgrounds from the Hill, agency or management consulting arenas are highly preferred
Track record of developing strong client relationships in order to be a persuasive strategic counselor
Superior writing and editing skills often under tight deadlines
Meticulous attention to detail in a multi-tasking environment
Strong project management skills
Media relations to include press releases and pitching
Ability to mentor and coach junior level staff
8-10 years of experience
Desire to work in a diverse and inclusive organization as an active participant in culture initiatives, training opportunities and employee resource groups
