UX Content Designer

This is a Full-time position in Los Angeles, CA posted December 6, 2021.

We are seeking an energetic, self-starter that combines an analytical mind with creative problem-solving skills, and an unrelenting passion for user-centric experiences to drive cohesion across Slickdeals’ website, app, and extension.

You will shape experiences that motivate and guide shoppers through the Slickdeals ecosystem.

You’ll join as a strategic thought leader, partnering cross-functionally with Product Management, Product Design, Engineering, and Marketing, to create experiences that help savvy shoppers win at shopping.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide both strategic direction and writing for various areas of Slickdeals. 
  • Help define the narrative strategy, interface development, and language systems across all of Slickdeals’ digital products.
  • Responsible for developing UX writing artifacts and guidelines such as product tone, language, tense, and narrative, that can be applied across various organizations within Slickdeals.
  • Set a scalable copy standard, and drive adherence to UX writing best practices based on internal learnings, branding guidelines, research, and data.
  • Develop UX writing tools and frameworks based on user research and brand guidelines.
  • Audit our existing product copy and content experience to identify gaps and areas of improvement.
  • Collaborate and partner cross-functionally to understand product objectives, simplifying complex systems into coherent, concise, and compelling narratives, interface copy, user experiences, and brand strategies.
  • Work with Product Design to define, test, and iterate UI copy across a variety of touchpoints and areas of the customer experience.
  • Manage projects from needs assessment to implementation; identify opportunities, establish priorities, secure resources, and manage stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Technical Writing, UX, HCI, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6+ years experience in Content Design and/or UX Writing, with demonstrable experience in a D2C eCommerce setting.
  • An unrelenting passion for user-focused product experiences.
  • A portfolio of UX-focused writing samples and style guidelines (required) .
  • Experience with establishing frameworks, content patterns, voice and tone guidelines, information architecture, and content hierarchy.
  • Fluent in Figma.
  • Can demonstrate leadership and influence across geographically distributed teams.
  • Comfortable leading several projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent attention to detail, communication, and planning skills. 
  • Ability to develop well-informed points of view, while also remaining open to adjustments based on input from others.
  • The skill to articulate the essence of products and the value they create by developing a strong messaging hierarchy and effective content strategy plan.
  • An “owner” personality and “can do” attitude: You’re a true believer in the work you drive and are biased towards action.
  • Proven collaboration skills: You know how to engage and mobilize multiple teams to drive execution towards shared goals.
