User Interface (UI) Designer

Data Systems Analysts, Inc

This is a Contract position in University Of Richmond, VA posted August 6, 2020.

Data Systems Analysts, Inc. is searching for a User Interface (UI) Designer.
This position is funded, it will be remote and supports the US Department of Agriculture.
<5% travel is expected.
Standard work hours.
Candidate location preference: Richmond, VA; Raleigh, NC; or Hampton Roads, VA

Requirements include:
• This role will be responsible for aiding in the research, discovery, implementation, and testing of system interface designs and enhancements.
• Design, prototype and implement application user narratives
• Author design systems and components for reuse across the DSI platform
• Develop and maintain control libraries and reference implementation pages for team-use
• Maintain the usability feedback loop to refine application experiences (Client interaction / internal interface testing / use statistics)
• Research, recommend and implement UI technologies + frameworks as necessary to support existing and emerging user narratives and experiences
• Evangelize the importance of design forward thinking
• Work will include interviews, observation, and collaborative design engagement with end-users, and subject matter experts in their respective subject areas of expertise.

Required Skills:
• 2+ years of experience designing user interfaces
• Working knowledge of user-centered design principles and platform interface guidelines
• Working knowledge and abilities in Sketch, InVision, Adobe Suite and related design tools
• Experience creating diagrams, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity interface design
• Experience with emerging and established UI frameworks (BootStrap, Angular, React, Polymer)
• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent problem-solving skills

Desired Skills:
• Ability to work in a high-interactive, Agile Scrum development environment with other developers and graphics designers
• Working knowledge of CSS/ HTML/Javascript (i.e., Tailwind CSS)
• Experience with Prototype tools (i.e., Adobe XD, Invision, etc.)
• Experience in some development language (JavaScript, Java, .NET, Python)
• Experience with ASP.NET + .NET CORE
• Experience with Data Access Models (MVC)

Required/ Desired Education and Certifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other technology-related field
• US Citizenship or Permanent Residency Required
• Able to obtain a US Public Trust clearance

Travel:
• Possible travel, but estimated to be less than 5% of total time.
