Leidos is a FORTUNE 500 company bringing a mix of innovative technology and sector expertise to customers in the national security, engineering, and the health industries. Leidos is seeking a Senior UX/UI Designer for a position as part of a team supporting internal and external Leidos customers. The Senior UX/UI Designer uses Lean User Experience (UX) methods to design user interfaces (UI) for human-machine systems and products. The successful candidate influences development of solutions that impact strategic project/program goals and business results.  The UX/UI Designer also recommends and develops new technical solutions, products, standards, best-practices, and processes in support of strategy and operations. This position leads and manages the work of other technical staff that have significant impact on project results/outcomes.

The successful candidate should be a collaborative, analytical yet creative thinker with strong problem-solving and technical management skills to deliver the best solutions in support of the customers’ missions.

Primary Responsibilities

The UX/UI Designer will employ formal methods and best-practices combined with ingenuity and creativity to improve existing products and develop new solutions to achieve customer objectives. Other duties include but are not limited to:

  • Serve as a leading technical expert on UX/UI projects providing strategic vision and oversight.

  • Leading / facilitating sessions to identify UX/UI requirements and improvement targets based on customer perceptions derived from feedback, research, and observations.

  • Work as part of diverse teams within various projects to understand mission needs, current environments, pain points, user values and goals, and the technical solution space, to create optimal experiences that meet mission needs.

  • Identifying and analyzing technological problems or risks, performs theoretical human factors investigations, and develops and implements research and analysis plans.

  • Collaborating with engineers to establish system design, operating, and training requirements and to ensure optimized human-machine interfaces.

  • Lead planning and execution of end-to-end UX/UI lifecycle including activities such as discovery, user research, prototyping, design, testing, and end user support.

  • Gather and analyze qualitative and quantitative data to drive design decisions and ensure newly developed tools and technology will meet mission needs while maximizing user adoption.

  • Leverage research data to plan, test, and evaluate design prototypes to ensure they meet needs prior to development.

  • Identification and adoption of best practices, standards, design guidelines, and style guides.

  • Development of processes and work instructions to continually improve the effectiveness of UX/UI design.

Basic Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizen

  • DoD Secret clearance.

  • Requires bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field and 4+ years of prior relevant experience or master’s with 2+ years of prior relevant experience. In lieu of degree, candidate must have 8+ years’ experience.

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in UX/UI design.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in UX/UI associated with cloud-based projects.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a DoD or other Federal Government environment.

  • Expertise in the Lean UX/UI methodology, user / customer research, usability testing, and design

  • Expertise in developing strong visual designs.

  • Expertise with UX/UI design for heavily data and workflow driven IT operations and management applications.

  • Expertise with UX/UI design for customer facing DoD applicaitons.

  • Expertise in design tools such as, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, etc.

  • Experience with UX/UI design for Web based applications.

  • Experience in the execution of DevOps and Agile Scrum methodologies.

  • Excellent collaboration and oral / written communication skills.

  • Proven track record in leadership positions setting UX/UI vision and strategy.

  • Must meet requirements for DoD 8570 Compliance included holding a current CompTIA Sec+ certificate.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working with / for DoD customers.

  • Industry certifications in UX/UI design.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $85,150.00 – $153,925.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
