Principal Experience Design Researcher

Our Experience Design group is a newly-formed team of 20 highly-experienced design professionals, spanning research, strategy, service, interaction, and interface design.

We are working with our internal partners to transform business across the enterprise and are well on our way to becoming a more responsive, human-centric organization.

Responsibilities: As a Principal Experience Design Researcher, you will: Lead and support experience design research, measurement, and testing across complex and interrelated journeys Work with cross-functional teams to execute on research needed from discovery to launch and beyond – making sure we are working on the right things at the right time Communicate research findings and identify opportunities for research to help inform a broader design strategy and to execute on that Work with research practice lead and other researchers to evolve our research practice and mentor others on the value of research Be part of a team that believes their best work comes from strong collaboration and work with them to influence stakeholders, build rapport, and cultivate consensus for excellence Be a trusted design partner for your team, bringing integrity and professionalism to every interaction and to every aspect of the work you do Qualifications: BA/BS in Graphic Design, Interaction Design, Industrial Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Information Science, Cognitive Science, Cultural Anthropology, Psychology, Behavioral Economics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience Expert at leading and executing research process and methodologies, from discovery to launch and beyond (including experimental design, generating research plans, defining and tracking experience metrics, data analyses (qual and quant), data synthesis, and coordinating work on multiple products) Experience with interviews, surveys, qualitative and quantitative usability testing, ethnography, contextual inquiry, IA testing (card sorting, tree testing, etc.), diary studies, analytics, and design thinking workshops Ability to choose the right method at the right time given product priority, team maturity, and overall opportunity for research to make an impact Strong communication, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills Ability to communicate research findings clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization Experience working with designers, product owners, developers, and business stakeholders to define and measure quantitative experience design goals and metrics, and to prioritize research opportunities in a fast-paced, rapidly-changing environment Excellent command of research questions within a given domain, and of technical tools for the analysis of data within that field Track record of influencing senior stakeholders and business decisions based on data-driven experience design research insights Thorough understanding of strengths and shortcomings of different research methods.
