Explore your future and launch your career today.The Systems Space Systems Group is seeking mid-level Mechanical Designer(s) to perform mechanical design tasks on one or more spacecraft systems or subsystems.The Mechanical Designer will work with other designers and engineers on Spacecraft Structures, Subsystems, Mechanisms, MGSE, or Proposals across the three business areas to develop and enhance critical technical capabilities that drive our businesses.

Skills include, but not limited to, Computer Aided Design (CAD), knowledge of Geometric Dimension and Tolerances (GD&T), Engineering Drawings, and Design for Manufacturing.Position Responsibilities:
– Work on all Spacecraft Structures, Payloads, and Subsystems mechanical hardware from requirements all the way through integration and test.
– Perform detailed design tasks using Computer Aided Design (CAD) and other software tools to develop and document designs for manufacturing and ultimately assembly into spacecraft (CREO 4 or newer).

– Produce Mechanical drawings using industry standard GD&T processes.
– Manage, track and facilitate the release of engineering documents and submission in PDM software.
– Assist in the procurement of released engineering components and track manufacturing progress.
– Interface with Mechanical design and engineering team to produce efficient and manufacturable spacecraft parts and assemblies.Basic Qualifications:
– Associate’s degree, 60 hours of applicable course work, and/or an equivalent of 4 years of applicable experience.

A combination of some or all of the criteria will be used in consideration for this position.
– Experience performing mechanical tasks associated with design and manufacturing of structures.
– Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) software (Creo).
– Experience in releasing engineering documents in PDM software.
– Experience with the engineering procurement process.

– Ability to work in team environments.

– Experience with the fundamentals of spacecraft layout and design.
– Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances (GD&T) standards and preparation of manufacturing documentation.
– Ability to work in Windchill PDM software
– Ability to create coherent, thoughtful engineering drawings that describe engineering intent, with first time quality.
– Experience with 3D Printing, Design for Manufacturing, and hands-on hardware fabrication.
– Proficiency in Microsoft office suite.
– Proficient in managing time and balancing unrelated tasks while maintaining schedule.

Salary Range: 46170
– 76950

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.

Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.

Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
