The Role We Want You For

Lamar Johnson Collaborative (LJC) is looking to hire an Interior Designer to join our team in Chicago and assume a creative role in the firm’s interiors practice.

The ideal candidate will augment and assist LJC’s design team, helping it grow and expand its presence, while contributing to project pursuits and talent recruiting.

The Interior Designer will be counted on to seek out professional development while working across LJC disciplines and parent company Clayco’s construction and real estate arms to help our entire enterprise thrive.

The Specifics of the Role
Performs various aspects of interior design as directed, including conceptual studies, program requirements, systems selection and layout
Prepares programming, schematic design, and design development and construction documents as directed
Contributes to creation of marketing and presentation materials
Pursues experiential and other learning opportunities to develop skills necessary to assume more senior roles within the firm
Represents LJC in the community and civic events
Practices LJC’s core values of integrity, humility and fearlessness
Contributes to LJC’s Core Councils (Culture, Integration, Practice, Process and Sustainability)

Qualifications

Interior Designers at LJC possess:
A bachelor’s degree in architecture, interior design or a related field
Experience with interior architecture and design projects sufficient to present a portfolio demonstrating design and technical capabilities
Should be actively working toward registration as an architect or interior designer
Interest in obtaining LEED
– and/or WELL-accreditation desirable
Demonstrated competence with Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD/Revit and MS Office
Exemplary written and spoken communication
Comfort and poise presenting to external and internal audiences
Excellent interpersonal relationship-building and colleague-coaching skills
