The Graphic Designer provides graphic design services and support in an agency atmosphere for food, agriculture and science clients.
The candidate will offer innovative and creative solutions to create cohesive visual statements that tell powerful stories through print, web and social media.
In addition, this person will provide marketing communications support through website content implementation and email marketing.
This full-time position reports to our Director of Marketing and Communications and collaborates with the communications team, association leadership, and external vendors to deliver thoughtful, effective solutions for the communications needs of our clients.
Responsibilities
Under guidance from the Communications Director, create electronic and printed content for Verto and association client needs, including email marketing templates and campaigns, press releases, newsletters, directories, programs and website additions, edits and improvements.
Develop brand identities for association clients’ meetings and events.
This includes logo development, cohesive electronic marketing campaigns, video and multimedia production, and visually appealing print publications.
Develop digital media content to support external communications such as social media images, infographics, and video production.
Lead in-house publication of electronic and printed materials for internal and outsourced print projects.
Ensure adherence to client brand standards, guidelines and best practices.
Build templates and distribute digital communications using email marketing tools.
Use content management systems to operate internal and external client websites through the creation and updating of pages, content and materials.
Develop pages and microsites for events and online newsletters, brochures and reports.
Proofread, as requested, content prior to electronic or print distribution.
Oversee Communications databases, including graphic library, department server folders, passwords, and other Communications-related collections both electronic and physical.
Make a concerted effort to develop graphic design skills, either through workshop attendance, web courses, or self-paced reading.
Seek Communications Director’s guidance in identifying appropriate development opportunities.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Communications, Marketing, Journalism or Graphic Design required (or equivalent experience).
Demonstrable experience using Adobe Design Premium CS/CC software, specifically Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign is required.
Experience in digital media support such as video production preferred.
Candidate must be a motivated, results-oriented self-starter with excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple constituencies and projects, adapt to frequent changes in priority, and meet tight deadlines required.
Must be versed in publishing materials and preparing for external printing.
Experience with at least one email marketing tool such as Mail Chimp preferred.
Experience working in CMS, specifically Drupal and WordPress, preferred.
Experience supporting other marketing and communications efforts, such as content development or social media management desired.
Trade association or non-profit experience desired.
Competence in all applications within Microsoft Office Suite required.
